GPS (Global Positioning System) is a satellite navigation system that allows you to determine the exact position and time synchronization on the ground, in the air, at sea and in space. It is a global system that is operated by the US government through the Department of Defense.

GPS uses a set of satellites located in space, which constantly transmit a signal containing information about their positions and times through a transmitter. These signals are picked up by GPS receivers on the surface of the Earth or on board vehicles, planes, ships and other devices. GPS receivers analyze signals from several satellites and calculate the user's position based on transit times and information about the position of individual satellites.

GPS is a very accurate system that can determine the position with an accuracy of several meters to centimeters, depending on the quality of the receiver and the availability of signal satellites. Apart from positioning, GPS is also used for navigation, movement tracking and tracing, speed, time and altitude measurement.

GPS has a wide range of applications including personal navigation, traffic navigation, military and defense uses, surveying, fleet management, agriculture, search and rescue and many more. It is one of the most widely used and important technologies for positioning and navigation in the world.
