Vaillant – Antracite raised mounting base (for grey/dark units)
Original mounting base (sockelerhöhung) by Vaillant in the antracite color (shade RAL 7021), designed for elevated installation of the outdoor unit of the heat pump above ground level. This is a color alternative to the standard silver/light grey base – developed to visually match the dark (antracite) versions of the outdoor units aroTHERM plus (generation /8) and aroTHERM pro (generation /7), which Vaillant offers in addition to the classic white finish.
Purpose
Like the light version of the base, this antracite variant also solves two main problems of ground installation of the heat pump: (1) protection of the evaporator's intake grid from snow accumulation thanks to the elevated position of the unit above ground level, and (2) damping of vibration transmission into the ground thanks to integrated rubber damping elements in contact with the ground. The dark shade also allows for architectural unification of the appearance of the outdoor part of the heat pump, especially with modern facades and dark roof/fencing elements, where a light base would look aesthetically disruptive.

Compatibility
Designed for outdoor units of the aroTHERM plus range with designation .../8.1 A (newer generation, available also in dark casing) and aroTHERM pro/7. Before ordering, it is necessary to verify the exact performance and generation designation of the installed or planned unit, as the frame base dimensions slightly differ between individual performance ranges.
Installation
The base is mounted on a solid, flat and drained sub-base with sufficient load-bearing capacity corresponding to the sum of the frame's and the unit's weight. Anchoring to the sub-base and subsequent installation and connection of the unit is carried out exclusively by a professionally qualified service company authorized for heat pump installation, according to the current Vaillant installation manual for the respective performance range.
Why color matching matters
In installations where the outdoor unit is visible from public space or from the residential part of the garden, investors are increasingly addressing the aesthetic aspect of the technical equipment. Unifying the color of the base with the unit's casing color (both in antracite) creates a more visually compact and "professional" appearance than a combination of a light base with a dark unit, which is often an explicit requirement of the architect or investor in modern new builds with dark facades or fencing.
Common questions
Is this base functionally different from the silver version? No, functionally (load capacity, elevation height, vibration damping) it is identical to the standard version, only the color version RAL 7021 differs.
Can it be ordered for an older (white) unit if I prefer a dark base? Yes, the base color is not functionally linked to the unit color, the choice is purely aesthetic; we recommend, however, to verify dimensional compatibility with the specific model before ordering.
Will the color finish withstand long-term outdoor weather conditions? Yes, it is a powder-coated surface finish intended for year-round outdoor operation with high resistance to UV radiation and weather influences.
Operational and service recommendations
As with the silver version, we recommend regularly checking the free space under the unit and the condition of the sub-base drainage. The dark surface finish may heat up slightly more under direct sunlight than the light version, but this has no effect on the functional lifespan of the structure or the operation of the heat pump.
Related accessories
We recommend combining the base with a connection kit for bottom installation (0010027971), or with an extension part (0010027972). For light (white) versions of older generation units, the standard silver version of this base is available (0010027984).

The product is covered by a warranty period of 24 months. Due to the weight of the complete assembly, we strongly recommend checking the load-bearing capacity of the sub-base and entrusting the installation to a certified service company.

Snow protection – why it matters in Central European conditions
In Slovak climatic conditions, especially in foothill and mountainous areas, sufficient clearance between the bottom edge of the outdoor unit and the ground is among the key factors for reliable year-round operation of the heat pump. A standard installation height (unit on low bases, approx. 10–15 cm above ground level) can be covered up to the level of the evaporator's intake grid during heavy snowfall over several days. The consequences are:
- Significant drop in heating performance when heat demand is highest (frosty days with snow cover)
- Increased electricity consumption for compensatory defrost cycles
- In extreme cases, the unit may be shut down by a safety fuse due to insufficient air flow, requiring manual snow removal around the unit
The elevated mounting base with a 40 cm lift solves this problem systematically already during the installation phase, without the need for additional construction modifications or regular intensive snow removal. The investment in an elevated base usually pays for itself during the first or second heating season in areas with regular winter snow cover due to lower energy consumption for defrosting and lower risk of unit blockage.
Installation step by step
- Prepare a solid, flat and drained sub-base (concrete slab or compacted gravel sub-base) dimensioned for the weight of the frame and the unit.
- Mount and anchor the frame of the elevated base, check its horizontal level in all directions.
- Mount the outdoor unit onto the frame and anchor it according to the manufacturer's installation manual.
- Adjust the routing of the connection kit (possibly with an extension part) to the elevated position of the unit.
- Connect the piping, electrical installation and condensate drain.
- Verify free air circulation under the unit and put the unit into operation.
