Surface heating and cooling uses a large heat-exchange area - the ceiling, wall or floor - to transfer heat, instead of classic radiators. Thanks to the low-temperature heating medium (typically 30-40 °C), it is a good match for heat pumps and condensing boilers, and in summer the same distribution system also enables radiant cooling.

- What is the difference between underfloor and ceiling surface heating? The principle is the same - a large heat-exchange area with a low-temperature medium - only the location of the distribution (in the floor, ceiling or wall) and the response speed differ; ceiling panels react to a temperature change faster than underfloor heating.
- Can the system also be used for cooling? Yes, the same pipe or panel distribution works in reverse in summer - a lower-temperature medium cools the surface and removes heat from the room, but the risk of condensation (dew point) must be addressed.
- What pipe is used for surface heating? Usually PEX or PE-RT with an oxygen barrier (EVOH layer), which prevents oxygen diffusion into the heating circuit and protects the system's steel components from corrosion.
- What is a system insulation board used for? A board with moulded studs (grid) holds the pipe at the exact spacing during installation and also provides thermal insulation downwards/into the wall, so heat is directed into the room.
