Heat pumps for domestic hot water (DHW) heating
A heat pump for DHW is an excellent solution wherever it is necessary to save energy on water heating. The unit is made of high-quality steel. The heat pump itself - the compressor - is located, depending on the type, either on top of the tank or on its side. Inside, the tank is protected by double thermal enamelling and a Mg anode. DHW heating is provided by one or two hot-water heat exchangers, depending on the tank type.
The types TČ-xPLxx, TČ-3Z 300 and TČ-3Z 300VZ are equipped with one hot-water heat exchanger and two heating coils. (The TČ-3Z 300VZ type also has provision for air supply and exhaust ducting up to a distance of 10 m). One coil is from the heat pump - compressor, and the other coil is a direct-heating EI coil. The STČ xxx-xkW type is equipped with two independent hot-water heat exchangers. Thanks to the two hot-water heat exchangers, it is possible to combine different types of heat sources (gas or coal/wood boilers, solar energy, etc.).
The unit contains two more coils. One is directly from the compressor and the other is a direct-heating EI coil. Thanks to the various types of energy used for DHW preparation, the heat pump is able to meet even the most demanding requirements for hot water comfort and energy savings.
Frequently Asked Questions
- Is an air-to-water heat pump worth it for house heating? Yes, a heat pump can produce 3 to 4 kW of heat from 1 kW of electrical energy, which brings significant savings compared to direct electric heating, especially in combination with underfloor heating.
- Can a heat pump also cool? Yes, selected models (e.g. Daikin Altherma with cooling function) can also cool rooms in summer, provided the heating system is designed as a low-temperature system (underfloor heating, fan coils).
- Can a heat pump also heat domestic hot water (DHW)? Yes, selected models and standalone heat pumps for DHW heating (Ariston NUOS, HPW Lentherm) can efficiently heat water in the tank throughout the year.
- What output do I need for a heat pump? The output is chosen according to the heat loss of the building (kW) and the area of the heated spaces - if in doubt, we will be happy to advise you by phone or email based on the project documentation.
