Gas boilers, or low-temperature boilers are appliances for heating houses, apartments and other residential buildings. Gas boilers are gradually being phased out and replaced by modern condensing boilers. A sealed combustion chamber, whether made of sheet metal or cast iron, provides a long service life and very simple servicing. Thanks to their low price they remain popular with a wide range of customers.
Gas boilers can be controlled with a standard room thermostat, or in some cases, depending on the type of gas boiler, also with a more sophisticated weather-compensated controller. The flue of a non-condensing gas boiler must use a metal chimney.

- Why are low-temperature boilers no longer sold widely? Under the EU Ecodesign regulation, the sale of new boilers with higher emissions and lower efficiency is restricted – most of the range has therefore been replaced by condensing boilers, which are more efficient and meet current emission standards.
- Is it still worth buying a low-temperature boiler? With its low purchase price and simple maintenance, it can be a good choice especially when replacing an existing unit with the same type in an older heating system, where switching to condensing technology would require major modifications.
- What is the difference compared to a condensing boiler? A condensing boiler also uses the heat contained in the flue gases and achieves significantly higher efficiency and lower gas consumption – for new installations we therefore recommend condensing boilers.
- Can a low-temperature boiler be weather-compensated? With some models yes, depending on the boiler type – however, a standard room thermostat is typically used.
- What kind of flue does a low-temperature (non-condensing) boiler need? Unlike condensing boilers, it requires a metal chimney, not a plastic flue resistant to condensate.
