Wireless thermostats and controls for underfloor heating
Below are thermostats for underfloor heating with an infrared remote floor sensor. This thermostat is designed for a special use case (control) of sensing the floor temperature, when we need to reconcile room temperature with floor temperature. This is important in various situations where the floor temperature always needs to take priority and the room temperature is secondary.
Unless it is expressly necessary to use this thermostat with an IR sensor, we recommend using classic programmable thermostats. Frequently Asked Questions
- Why a thermostat with a floor IR sensor instead of a classic room thermostat? An IR sensor measures the floor temperature directly, so you can precisely limit the maximum underfloor heating temperature and protect the floor covering (e.g. wood, laminate) from overheating.
- Can a thermostat with a floor sensor also be combined with room temperature measurement? Some models (e.g. Jablotron AC-82/AC-83) combine both a floor and a room sensor, and you choose the priority value in the settings.
- Is installation difficult? No, the thermostat is wired like a classic switching thermostat into the electrical circuit of the heating cable system; the sensor is simply inserted into a conduit in the floor.
- When is a classic programmable thermostat more suitable? If you do not strictly need to sense the floor temperature (e.g. with water underfloor heating with a manifold), we recommend a classic programmable thermostat instead.
