Heat pumps designed specifically for heating domestic hot water (DHW) – the Ariston NUOS EVO range and our own HPW Lentherm brand. The heat pump extracts heat from the air and uses it to efficiently heat water in the built-in tank, with significantly lower electricity consumption than conventional electric heating.
Frequently Asked Questions
- How much more efficient is a heat pump than an electric water heater? A heat pump for DHW heating can reduce the electricity consumption for heating water by up to 60–70% compared to direct electric heating, since it draws most of the heat from the air.
- What is the difference between Ariston NUOS and HPW Lentherm? Both ranges perform the same function – DHW heating using a heat pump with a built-in tank. They differ in tank volume, output, and specific design – see the description of the individual models for details.
- Where should a DHW heat pump be installed? Usually in a utility room, boiler room, or basement, ideally in a space with sufficient air volume and the option to drain condensate.
