Pipe insulation (foam pipe sleeves) protects water, heating and cooling pipework against heat loss, moisture condensation and, outdoors, against freezing. It is made from a foam insulating material that simply slides directly onto the pipe.
Insulation size is given as the inner diameter (which must match the outer diameter of the pipe) and the wall thickness of the insulation - for example 18 mm / 9 mm means insulation for a pipe with a diameter of 18 mm and a wall thickness of 9 mm. The greater the insulation thickness, the higher the thermal resistance.
