Low-temperature gas boilers in a set with an external storage tank
A set consisting of a low-temperature (classic, non-condensing) gas boiler and an external hot water storage tank is a proven solution that has long been used especially when replacing an older boiler with the same type of heating system, or where switching to condensing technology is not possible or advantageous (e.g. no condensate drainage, chimney draught, budget). We offer sets from the brands Protherm, Vaillant, Junkers, Buderus, Baxi and Viessmann, complemented by an external storage tank (cylinder) with a volume from 70 to 160 litres depending on the needs of the household.
Important note: non-condensing boilers have lower efficiency than modern condensing boilers, since they don't make use of the heat contained in the water vapour of the flue gases. If you're setting up your heating from scratch or replacing the whole system, we recommend considering condensing boilers instead, which are more economical in the long run. Sets with a low-temperature boiler still have their place, however - especially for a straightforward replacement with an identical type in an older house, where rebuilding the chimney or condensate drainage is not possible or economically worthwhile.
Our range includes, for example, the Protherm Aqua Complet Panther 25 KOO/KTO + FE 120 BM, Vaillant atmoTEC/turboTEC VU 200-280/3-5 sets with VIH 70-150 l cylinders, Junkers Ceraclass Basic and CeraclassExcellence with an ST 120 storage tank, Buderus Logamax U052/U054 + Logalux S120/5, Baxi Luna3 Blue and Comfort with 100-160 l storage tanks, or Viessmann Vitopend 100-W with a 100-150 l cylinder. The boilers are available in both turbo (flue through the facade) and chimney versions.
We choose the set according to the boiler output (based on the heated area), storage tank volume (based on the number of people and hot water consumption) and the method of flue gas discharge. Frequently Asked Questions
- What is a low-temperature (classic) boiler? It's a non-condensing gas boiler which, unlike a condensing boiler, doesn't make use of the heat contained in the water vapour of the flue gases, so it has lower efficiency than modern condensing boilers.
- Why would someone choose a low-temperature boiler instead of a condensing one? Most often when replacing the same type in an older system, where there's no condensate drainage, or where replacing it with a condensing boiler is difficult for technical or financial reasons.
- How big a storage tank should I choose? For a 2-3 person household, 100-120 litres is usually enough; for a larger household or higher hot water consumption we recommend 150-160 litres.
- Is it possible to choose a condensing boiler instead of a set? Yes, and in most cases we recommend it - condensing boilers have higher efficiency and lower operating gas consumption.
- Do you also provide installation of the set? We can recommend verified installation partners in your region; we'll agree on the specific arrangement individually when you order.
