Brass manifolds are used to distribute heating water from a single source (boiler, heat pump) into several separate underfloor heating or radiator circuits. Each circuit has its own shut-off valve, so you can regulate individual rooms or loops and, if needed (e.g. for repairs or seasonal shutdown of a room), shut them off independently without affecting the rest of the system.
We offer brass manifolds from the IVAR brand as well as our own HPW brand, in versions from 2 up to 12 circuits – you choose according to the number of rooms or heating loops in your project. A standalone manifold without a pump is suitable for a single underfloor heating circuit fed, for example, via a mixing valve from the boiler circuit. A complete set with a circulation pump and three-way mixing valve (IVAR CI 557 KS, available in 2 to 10-way versions) is needed when you combine underfloor heating with radiators on a single heat source – the pump and valve can independently blend in cooler water for the underfloor circuits, even while the main circuit runs at a higher temperature for the radiators.
For each manifold, we recommend also purchasing accessories: ball shut-off valves (straight and angled, threaded, with a thermometer ranging from 0 to 80 °C), a flow meter for precisely balancing flow in individual circuits, a thermostatic valve with an M30x1.5 thread for a manual head, an automatic air vent valve with a check valve (prevents air build-up and loss of output), and mounting kits (W-kit, T-kit) with seals. For recessing into a wall or partition, both flush-mounted and surface-mounted cabinets are available in the accessories category.
Frequently Asked Questions
- Which manifold should I choose for underfloor heating? For a standalone underfloor heating circuit, a manifold without a pump is enough (fed, for example, from the boiler circuit with a mixing valve). If you want to combine underfloor heating with radiators on a single source, you need a set with a pump and a three-way valve (e.g. IVAR CI 557 KS).
- What is the difference between a manifold for radiators and one for underfloor heating? Manifolds for radiators are usually made of stainless steel or nickel-plated and operate with higher heating water temperatures, while manifolds for underfloor heating are made of brass, with flow meters for precisely balancing individual circuits.
- How many circuits can a manifold handle? We offer sets from 2 up to 12 heating circuits (sets with the IVAR CI 557 KS pump from 2 to 10 circuits), depending on the number of rooms/loops in your project.
- Do I also need a cabinet for the manifold? A cabinet is not required if you place the manifold, for example, in a utility room. For an aesthetic recess into a wall or partition, we recommend a flush-mounted or surface-mounted cabinet from the accessories category.
- What is a flow meter and what is it used for? It measures and allows you to precisely set the water flow in each circuit separately, so that heat is distributed evenly to all rooms or loops according to the project.
- What is the difference between a manifold without a pump and the IVAR CI 557 KS set? A manifold without a pump on its own only distributes water into the circuits and needs an external source of pressure and correct temperature. The IVAR CI 557 KS set has a built-in circulation pump and three-way mixing valve, so it can blend in lower-temperature water for underfloor heating by itself, even while the rest of the system (e.g. radiators) runs at a higher temperature.
- Is an air vent valve also needed? Yes, we recommend an automatic air vent valve with a check valve for every manifold – it prevents air build-up in the system and the resulting loss of output and noise.
- What material are the manifolds made of? Brass is a durable, commonly used material for heating distribution systems that withstands the pressure and temperature of heating water well. For higher aesthetic demands or more exposed environments, we also offer a stainless steel version (Stainless Steel Manifolds category).
