Instantaneous Water Heaters

An instantaneous water heater heats water directly as it is drawn, without needing a storage tank - ideal where there is no room for a tank, or where hot water use is occasional and irregular.

Our range includes electric and gas instantaneous water heaters from CLAGE, Hakl, Q-TERMO, Rinnai, Vaillant, Junkers, Karma and other brands - from small single-point models for one washbasin to powerful apartment stations.

The key factor when choosing is output (kW) relative to the number and type of outlets, and whether you need a pressurized model (connected to the pipework, multiple outlets) or a non-pressurized one (a single outlet right at the heater).

We're happy to help with choosing and installation - write to us via the contact form or by email.

Instantaneous water heaters

Instantaneous water heaters are considered the simplest devices for heating water. Thanks to their small size they can be installed above or below a washbasin, so opening the tap doesn't cause any water to run to waste unnecessarily. Some heaters run on electricity, others on gas.

More expensive instantaneous water heaters also have a small built-in tank, which makes heating more comfortable. The pre-heated water in the tank is used first, and only then does the instantaneous heating switch on. This sometimes prevents the heater from struggling to keep up with hot water demand. All instantaneous water heaters covered here are installed above the washbasin.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What output do I need for an instantaneous water heater? For a single outlet (e.g. a washbasin) 3.5-5.5 kW is enough; for a shower or several simultaneous outlets, electric models need 8-12 kW.
  • Does an instantaneous water heater have to be connected to 400 V? Higher-output models (above roughly 6-8 kW) do, while smaller single-outlet models usually only need a 230 V supply.
  • What's the difference between a pressurized and a non-pressurized instantaneous water heater? A pressurized unit is connected to the water supply and can feed several outlets, while a non-pressurized one is fitted directly to a single tap.
  • Is an instantaneous water heater worth it instead of a storage tank? Yes, wherever there's no room for a tank or hot water use is occasional - it only heats water when drawn, with no standby heat losses from storage.
  • Can an instantaneous water heater also run on gas? Yes, the range also includes gas instantaneous water heaters (e.g. Junkers, Karma), which require a flue for combustion gases and a gas connection.

Good evening, I have this heater from you. The problem is that when I turn on the hot water, only cold water comes out, and even the LED on the heater doesn't light up at all - what could be the issue?

Hello, I'd like to buy an instantaneous water heater to fit under the kitchen sink. We don't often use the sink for actively washing dishes, since we have a dishwasher. I'm looking for an instantaneous water heater in the price range of around 150€ (+/- 40€), so it can be mounted underneath the sink, and I'd also like to know how it connects to the electrical supply. Thank you very much for your help.

Hello. I'd need advice on the most suitable boiler for heating water and heating a flat of about 100 m2 with underfloor heating. What would you recommend? Is a boiler with a tank better or without? Thank you

Hello. In a flat for a 4-person family I need to heat hot water for the kitchen (sink) + bathroom (washbasin and shower). Right now there's a gas instantaneous water heater with flow ignition, but the temperature of the heated water fluctuates quite a bit. Once the water is turned on the burner fires up and the water is warm after a while. When I stop the water, the burner also switches off. When I turn the water back on, it's warm at first, but then cold water comes through until the burner fires up again. I need to achieve a stable temperature of heated water. I'm considering a gas storage water heater with a small tank. So that it has a small hot water reserve (about 5-20 l) and can keep reheating water continuously while showering. Could you recommend such a solution? Thank you

Hello, we're interested in buying a gas instantaneous boiler. Our old 13-year-old boiler broke down. We're a 2-person family and we use the boiler 90% just for heating hot water (shower, washbasin and sink). All winter we heat with a fireplace and only switch the gas boiler on for heating occasionally (about 10 times a whole winter). Can you advise which boiler is right for us? Energy savings matter to us. Thank you.

We want to replace our kitchen unit and switch from gas to electricity as part of it - cooker, water heater. Right now we have a gas instantaneous water heater, a Karma, which is sufficient for us. I'm looking for an equivalent electric instantaneous water heater above or below the sink. Bringing 3 x 400 V into the kitchen is not a problem. Please advise on the best-value electric instantaneous water heater. Thank you and best regards. Gustav Mosendz

Hello, I'd need to fit out a small bathroom at our cottage, which is only used occasionally - on weekends in the warmer spring and autumn, and during summer holidays by our five-person family. The cottage has a water supply built by the settlers themselves when the cottage community was founded - so we only have untreated cold water. The bathroom has a shower and a washbasin. Thank you, Monika

Hello, I need to sort out hot water heating in a flat in a panel building. We're on a higher floor, the pressure fluctuates. So far our Junkers WR 14 has been holed by the fitter, who cleaned it fully soaked in acid. Is there anything with a tank as well?

Hello, with a tank you can only buy a boiler+tank set, or another option is a storage water heater, which could be mounted above the washbasin, though these tend to be large, so they're not exactly the best solution for smaller spaces.
