This angled (90°) ball valve is used as a local water shut-off right at the fixture - under a washbasin, sink, or behind a toilet cistern - so you don't need to shut off the main supply for the whole household when servicing or replacing a tap. The ceramic cartridge stays leak-tight in the long term even after thousands of open/close cycles; the valve is operated by simply turning the lever 90°.

Thanks to its chrome-plated surface, the valve looks clean and unobtrusive even in a visible location, such as exposed pipework under a washbasin.
