Barenbrug SOS 5kg is a regenerating ryegrass mixture designed for over-seeding both sports and recreational areas. Renewal is especially important after the winter period, and with this mixture you achieve coverage of over 60% within a month, which is at least 18 days sooner than with ordinary ryegrass mixtures.

The Barenbrug Super Over Seeding (SOS) mixture is the newest generation of Italian ryegrass and differs from traditional seeds in that it allows over-seeding even at low temperatures, which is not possible with most other mixtures. If the soil consistently reaches a temperature of 4 - 6 °C, this seed is the optimal choice!

If the seed is used at the end of winter, it will guarantee you a quality lawn for various sporting activities.

By over-seeding the lawn in early spring, you can extend the playing season by several months. A pitch over-seeded at the beginning of spring maintains a fine grass surface, allowing you to load the area more intensively than ever before.

For a perfect result, professionals use up to 50g/m2 (i.e. 5kg per 100m2); with the correct irrigation technique, this way you can avoid the need for further over-seeding.

PREPARATION:

First, it is advisable to remove old vegetation, debris, weeds and stones. The top layer needs to be loosened, thoroughly watered, mixed with 2cm of lawn substrate, and left to settle for about a week. It should then be rolled. Finally, we recommend leveling the soil with a rake so that the top layer of soil is well loosened.

The ideal time to plant a new lawn is (in an average year) at the turn of April/May, or in autumn in September/October.

For sowing, we recommend using a hand seeder for smaller areas or cart-type seeders for larger areas, to ensure an even distribution of the grass seed.

A lawn meant to be a decoration for the garden requires regular mowing (ideally with a Wiper robotic mower), nutrient supply 3 times a year (spring/transitional/autumn fertilization), and chemical protection against diseases and pests as needed.
