Barenbrug SOS in a 15kg package is a regenerative ryegrass-based grass seed mixture used for overseeding both sports and recreational areas. Regeneration is especially crucial after the winter season, when this mixture achieves more than 60% coverage within one month, which is at least 18 days faster compared to a standard ryegrass mixture.

The Barenbrug Super Over Seeding (SOS) grass seed mixture is the latest generation of Italian ryegrass and differs from common seeds in that it allows sowing even at low temperatures, which is not possible with most other mixtures. If the soil temperature remains between 4 and 6°C for an extended period, this seed is the ideal choice!

If the seed is used at the end of winter, it will guarantee you a high-quality lawn for various sports activities.

By sowing your lawn at the beginning of spring, you can extend the playing season by several months. A pitch that is ready in time maintains a fine surface, allowing for more intensive use of the area than ever before.

For optimal results, professionals recommend a dosage of up to 50g/m2 (i.e. 5kg per 100m2); with proper watering, this way you avoid the need for further overseeding.

First, it is advisable to remove old vegetation, roots, weeds and stones. The top layer of soil should be loosened, thoroughly watered, mixed with a 2cm layer of lawn substrate and left to settle for about a week. Then roll the area and finally level it with a rake, so that the top layer of soil is well loosened.

The ideal time to sow a new lawn is, in an average year, at the turn of April and May, or alternatively in autumn during September or October.

For sowing, we recommend using a hand seeder for smaller areas or a wheeled seeder for larger areas, to ensure an even distribution of the grass seed.

A lawn that is meant to be a decorative feature of the garden requires regular mowing (ideally using a robotic mower such as Wiper), nutrient supply three times a year (spring, transitional and autumn fertilization), and chemical treatment against diseases and pests as needed.
