Barenbrug SOS 1kg is a regenerative ryegrass seed mixture designed for overseeding sports and recreational areas. Regeneration is especially crucial after winter, when this mixture covers more than 60% within a month, which is at least 18 days earlier than with a common perennial ryegrass mixture.

The Barenbrug Super Over Seeding (SOS) grass seed mixture represents the latest generation of Italian ryegrass and differs from classic seed mixtures in that it allows overseeding even at low temperatures, which is impossible with most other mixtures. If the soil temperature stays at 4 - 6°C for a longer period, this seed is exactly the right choice!

If the seed is used at the end of winter, it will guarantee you a quality lawn for various sports activities.

By overseeding the lawn in early spring, you extend the playing season by several months. A field oversown at the start of spring maintains a finer grass surface, allowing you to load the area more intensively than ever before.

Package coverage: 1 kg/ 30 - 50m ²

For an optimal result, professionals use up to 50g/m2 (i.e. 5kg per 100m2); with proper irrigation, this avoids the need for further overseeding.

PREPARATION:

First, it is advisable to remove old growth, debris, weeds and stones. The top layer needs to be loosened, thoroughly watered, treated with a 2cm layer of lawn substrate and left to settle for about a week. It should then be rolled. Finally, it is advisable to level the soil with a rake to loosen the top layer.

The ideal time to plant a new lawn is (in an average year) around the turn of April/May, or in autumn in September/October.

When sowing, we recommend using a hand seeder for smaller areas or cart-type seeders for larger areas, to ensure even distribution of the grass seed.

Care:

A lawn meant to be a garden feature requires regular mowing (ideally with a Wiper robotic mower), nutrient application 3 times a year (spring/transitional/autumn fertilization) and chemical treatment against diseases and pests as needed.
