Product detailed description
Buderus is one of the oldest and most respected heating technology brands in Europe – its manufacturing tradition dates back to 1731. Today, Buderus is part of the Bosch Thermotechnik group, which means every product is backed by German engineering, strict quality control and years of experience in developing heat sources, cylinders and control technology. Thanks to this, customers can be sure they are investing in a solution designed for long-term, reliable operation.
Buderus Logalux S120 hot water cylinder, lightweight (light) version – silver
Buderus Set S120 light, silver is the same indirectly heated cylinder with a volume of 120 litres as the white version, differing only in its modern silver-metallic casing. It is a classic storage cylinder with a single heat exchanger ("S" – Speicher), into which heating water from the boiler enters and transfers heat to the domestic water in the tank. The lightweight "light" version includes only the cylinder itself and a temperature sensor – without an expansion vessel and safety components, which should be addressed separately or by choosing the full set.
The silver version is particularly suitable for more modern technical rooms where the visual aspect of the installation is also considered. The inside of the tank is enamelled with a magnesium anode for corrosion protection, and thermal insulation limits heat loss during water storage.
What's included in the set
The package includes:
- LOGALUX S120.5 S-B, SILVER (code 7735500673, 1 pc)
- FSS temperature sensor (code 5991520, 1 pc)
The FSS sensor is inserted into the cylinder's immersion sleeve and provides the boiler control with information about the current water temperature, based on which the reheating is regulated.
How to choose the right cylinder size
A 120-litre volume will cover the needs of a smaller household with 2-3 people. For a larger number of household members or when simultaneous draw-off from several outlets is expected, consider a larger model, such as the S160. The actual heating requirement is also affected by the output of the heat source, which determines how quickly the cylinder reheats to the required temperature after use.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between the light and the full S120 set?
The light version includes only the cylinder and the temperature sensor, while the full S120 set also adds an expansion vessel with a bracket and an AirfixControl safety valve for a complete safety circuit.
Is the silver version technically different from the white one?
No, the only difference is the colour of the cylinder's outer casing; the technical parameters are identical.
Do I need to purchase an expansion vessel for this set?
If your installation does not already have a safety circuit in place, then yes – without an expansion vessel and safety valve, the cylinder cannot be safely operated.
What is the lifespan of the enamelled tank?
With regular inspection and replacement of the magnesium anode, Buderus enamelled cylinders can last many years without corrosion.
Can the cylinder be connected to a solar circuit?
No, this model has only one heat exchanger intended for reheating from the boiler; for combination with solar collectors, the SM series (e.g. SM310, SM400) is intended.
Is the installation difficult?
The connection itself is relatively simple, but it must be carried out by a qualified professional authorised to install heating and pressure equipment.
Installation and operation
Installation of the cylinder and its connection to the heating, or solar, circuit may only be carried out by a qualified person with the appropriate authorisation – this involves work on hot water, gas or electrical systems, as well as work with pressure vessels, where incorrect installation can jeopardise operational safety and warranty validity. Before installation, we recommend checking that there is sufficient space around the cylinder for service access (especially to the heat exchangers, anode and sensors), that the floor can bear the weight of the filled cylinder, and that drainage of any water from the safety valve is ensured.
After connection, the cylinder must be filled, vented and the control technology (sensors, or solar circuit control) set according to the project documentation and manufacturer's instructions. Regular servicing – checking the anode, tightness, pressure in the expansion vessel and function of the safety valve – extends the cylinder's lifespan and reduces the risk of unexpected failure.
Warranty and service
Buderus products are generally covered by a 2-year statutory warranty. When the device is registered via the official Buderus portal and commissioned by an authorised service technician, an extended warranty on the cylinder's heat exchanger can typically be obtained under standard conditions – we recommend verifying the exact conditions and length of the extended warranty directly during product registration or with an authorised Buderus service partner. The Buderus service network in Slovakia is extensive, spare parts are readily available, and by following the installation and maintenance instructions, you can expect many years of trouble-free operation from the cylinder.
