Product detailed description
Buderus is one of the historically most significant brands in heating technology – today it operates under the wings of the Bosch Thermotechnik group and carries with it a reputation for precise German craftsmanship. Buderus tanks and solar modules are designed to work perfectly with heat sources of the same brand (Logamax, Logano boilers), but also work equally well in combination with sources from other manufacturers.
Domestic hot water tank Buderus Logalux S160, silver
Buderus Set S160, silver is a 160-litre indirectly heated tank in an elegant silver-metallic finish, technically identical to the white version. Its higher capacity compared to the S120 model makes it suitable for households with more members or a demand for simultaneous hot water draw-off from multiple points at once. A single heat exchanger transfers heat from the boiler's heating water to the domestic water stored in the enamelled tank with a protective anode.
The silver casing design complements more modern technical rooms and boiler rooms, while functionally it is the same tank as the white S160 version.
What is included in the set
The set includes:
- LOGALUX SU160.5 ES-B, SILVER (code 7735500670, 1 pc)
- Sensor Set, RD 6.0 3000 10K (code 7735502288, 1 pc)
- Logafix expansion vessel D18, 10 bar, white (code 80432074, 1 pc)
- Logafix AirfixControl (code 7747201056, 1 pc)
- Bracket for expansion vessel MB2 (code 12222017, 1 pc)
The RD 6.0 Sensor Set provides temperature measurement for boiler reheat control, the Logafix D18 expansion vessel (10 bar) compensates for volumetric changes in water, the AirfixControl safety valve with pressure gauge protects against excessive pressure, and the MB2 mounting bracket is used to secure the expansion vessel.
How to choose the right tank size
A capacity of 160 litres is suitable for a household of 4 or more people, or where there is a requirement for higher comfort with simultaneous hot water draw-off from multiple points. If the household is smaller (2-3 people) with typical consumption, the smaller S120 model will usually suffice. We recommend consulting an expert regarding the exact volume choice based on the household's actual usage habits.
Frequently asked questions
Does the silver S160 set differ technically from the white one?
No, the difference is exclusively in the colour of the outer casing; the technical parameters and set components are the same.
What capacity should I choose for a 5-member household?
For a larger number of people, a 160-litre capacity is usually a suitable choice; for extremely high consumption (multiple bathrooms, a bathtub), it may be worth considering an even larger tank.
Is the safety circuit included in the set?
Yes, the set includes the expansion vessel, the AirfixControl safety valve, and the mounting bracket.
How long does the hot water supply in the tank last?
This depends on the method and intensity of draw-off; thanks to the quality insulation, heat losses during storage are low.
Is professional installation required?
Yes, the connection of the tank and safety circuit must be carried out by a qualified technician with the relevant authorisation.
Can the tank be later expanded with solar heating?
This model has only one heat exchanger; for combined solar heating, the SM series is intended (e.g. SM310, SM400).
Installation and operation
Installation of the tank and its connection to the heating, or possibly solar circuit, may only be carried out by a qualified person with the relevant authorisation – this involves working on hot water, gas or electrical systems as well as working with pressure vessels, where incorrect installation can jeopardise operational safety as well as the validity of the warranty. Before installation, we recommend checking that there is sufficient space at the installation site for service access (especially to the heat exchangers, anode and sensors), that the floor can bear the weight of the filled tank, and that drainage for any water from the safety valve is ensured.
After connection, the tank must be filled, vented, and the control technology (sensors, or solar circuit control if applicable) set according to the project documentation and the manufacturer's instructions. Regular servicing – checking the anode, tightness, pressure in the expansion vessel and the function of the safety valve – extends the tank's service life and reduces the risk of unexpected failure.
Warranty and service
Buderus products are generally covered by a 2-year statutory warranty. When registering the appliance via the official Buderus portal and having it commissioned by an authorised service technician, it is possible, under standard conditions, to obtain an extended warranty on the tank's heat exchanger – we recommend verifying the exact conditions and duration of the extended warranty directly during product registration or with an authorised Buderus service partner. The Buderus service network in Slovakia is extensive, spare parts are readily available, and by following the installation and maintenance instructions, you can expect many years of trouble-free operation from the tank.
