Solar combination storage tank Buderus Logalux SM310 – silver version
Buderus Set SM310, silver is technically the same solar bivalent storage tank with a volume of 300 litres as the white version, differing only in the appearance of the outer casing – an elegant silver-metallic design that suits modern technical rooms and boiler rooms. The abbreviation "SM" (Solar Modul) denotes a design with two heat exchangers in one vessel: the lower exchanger with a larger heat transfer area is connected to the solar collectors and serves as the primary heat source, while the upper exchanger is connected to the boiler or another heat source and supplements heating during periods with insufficient solar radiation.
The inside of the tank is made of quality enamelled steel with a magnesium anode protecting against corrosion, while thick polyurethane insulation reduces heat losses and extends the time during which the water in the tank keeps the required temperature even without further heating.

Included is a temperature sensor for controlling the solar circuit, a thermostatic mixing valve for domestic hot water for a safe outlet water temperature (protection against scalding during high solar yields) and a 25 l/6 bar safety expansion vessel with the MB2 mounting bracket, which absorbs the volumetric expansion of the heat transfer fluid in the solar circuit.
How to choose the right storage tank size
When choosing the size of a solar storage tank, it is important to match the tank volume with the number of household members as well as the area of the installed solar collectors. For a 4-6 member household, the 300-litre volume of the SM310 is generally sufficient; for a larger number of people or if a significant share of solar coverage is required, it is advisable to consider a larger model (e.g. SM400). As a general guideline, every 100 litres of tank volume corresponds to approximately 1.2-1.5 m² of flat solar collector area, but an exact calculation should be assessed by a professional according to the location, roof orientation and collector tilt.

Does the silver version differ technically from the white one?

Is a pump solar station also included in the set?
No, the pump group (e.g. Logasol KS0110) is ordered separately; this set covers the storage tank itself and its connection/safety components.
What is the maximum operating temperature in the storage tank?

Can the storage tank operate even if the solar system fails?

Installation and operation
Installation of the storage tank and its connection to the heating or solar circuit must be carried out exclusively by a qualified person with the appropriate authorisation – this involves intervention in hot water, gas or electricity distribution systems as well as work with pressure vessels, where incorrect installation can jeopardise operational safety and the validity of the warranty. Before installation, we recommend checking that there is sufficient space for service access at the tank's location (especially to the exchangers, anode and sensors), that the floor can bear the weight of the filled tank, and that drainage of any water from the safety valve is ensured.
After connection, the storage tank must be filled, vented and the control technology (sensors, or solar circuit control) set according to the project documentation and manufacturer's instructions. Regular service inspection – checking the anode, tightness, pressure in the expansion vessel and function of the safety valve – extends the service life of the storage tank and reduces the risk of unexpected failure.
Warranty and service
Buderus products are usually covered by a 2-year statutory warranty.
