The cooling shroud designed for submersible pumps is used in dug wells or open water reservoirs and ensures cooling as well as protection of the pump from overheating.

Electric motors in submersible pumps are specially designed with respect to their characteristics and operating conditions. Among the main factors leading to damage of these motors is overheating, which can occur due to frequent starts (max. 20 to 40/hour) or insufficient heat dissipation from the motor.

A submersible motor requires a minimum flow velocity of water around it for sufficient cooling. If the pump is installed in a narrow borehole with perforations located above it, this condition is not met.

When dealing with a narrow borehole with perforations above the pump, or a pump placed in a dug well with a significantly larger diameter than the pump itself, or in an open reservoir, it is essential to use a cooling shroud. The cooling shroud increases the flow velocity of the pumped water around the motor.

By lowering the motor's operating temperature, the long-term service life of the submersible motor is extended.
