The electronic pump run control switch, or press control, performs the function of a pressure switch, enabling automatic operation of an electric water pump depending on a drop in pressure and on the stopping of water flow in the system (i.e. when the device's electrical contacts open and close) – it allows the pump or water system to run automatically. The PC-59 press control unit with pressure gauge and dry-run auto-restart also protects against dry running - it switches off the pump when it runs without water. This protects the pump from damage that could occur when running without water. After switching off, it is put back into operation by pressing the RESET button. We recommend using the PC-59 press control unit with pressure gauge in clean water systems without impurities and sediments, otherwise a suitable filter must be installed on the inlet side of the device. Based on experience, the control unit's working setting is recommended at max 6 bar. (Similar to how cars have some maximum value on the rev counter - it is not reached because the engine could be damaged). When used with pumps that generate a pressure higher than 6 BAR, we recommend installing a pressure reducing valve before the control unit. Advantages: The PC-59 press control unit with pressure gauge and auto-restart can be used in combination with a pressure tank - as dry-run protection or as an automatic unit for pumps and water systems without a pressure tank (automatic water system).  A major advantage of the PC-59 control unit is that both the lower switch-on pressure and the upper switch-off pressure are adjustable. The BRIO PC-59 control unit with pressure gauge - press control has a built-in check valve to prevent water flowing back into the pump. Operation and basic data: The PC-59 unit with pressure gauge starts the pump running for approximately 15 seconds at the moment of connection. The pump then starts every time the operating pressure is reached, at the moment the pressure in the system drops, for example when a valve is opened. Unlike other pressure switches and control units, which switch off when a certain pressure is reached, the PC-59 unit with pressure gauge switches off when the minimum flow value is reached. Once this condition is met, the device delays switching off by 7 to 15 seconds. This reduces the frequency of pump starts at low flow. Installation: The PC-59 unit with pressure gauge can be installed at any point between the pump and the first point of use, so that the direction of the arrow located on the underside of the device (near the thread) between the two 1“ connections corresponds to the direction of water flow. The system must ensure a perfect seal of the hydraulic connections. If a pump with a maximum permissible pressure of 10 bar is used, a pressure reducing valve must be installed at the PC-59 inlet. The device is factory-set to 1.5 bar, which is optimal for most uses. After disconnecting the device from the electrical supply, if the hydraulic output of the pump used allows it, the pressure can be changed after removing the top cover using the screw marked with + and – signs.
