Detailed information

Product detailed description

What is the Eko-Brim 50 mm invisible edging used for and how does it work?

The Eko-Brim plastic invisible edging with an L-profile, a height of 50 mm and a base width of 80 mm, is designed for the discreet division of various garden surfaces. It separates lawns, decorative gravel, bark beds, and both interlocking and large-format paving. With a wall thickness of 5 mm and a weight of 0.47 kg, it creates a stable edging border without the need for excavation work. It allows comfortable mowing of the lawn right up to the mower's wheels directly at the edge of the strip.

Advantages of the Eko-Brim invisible edging

  • quick and easy installation,
  • no excavation work required,
  • negligible installation costs,
  • the edging is invisible,
  • retains its shape even after several years,
  • does not get damaged even under load,
  • the edging can be used for all types of surfaces,
  • ensures trouble-free mowing of lawns right up to the edge of the separated area,
  • can be reused even after several years, when you decide to change the look of your garden

How does the integrated Eko-Brim connecting lock work and how do you connect it?

The connecting mechanism links the one-meter sections into a single unit that withstands soil tension caused by frost and inaccessible terrain. The lock keeps the sections firmly in place without any play throughout the material's lifespan. During installation, there is no need to mechanically adjust or grind the lock.

You can read how to install plastic edging in the article.

INSTALLATION WARNING:

NEVER MODIFY, CUT, OR GRIND THE CONNECTING LOCK IF IT DOES NOT FIT FREELY. IT IS ENOUGH TO USE A RUBBER MALLET FOR A PERFECT CONNECTION AND HIT IT CORRECTLY ;-). The pieces will fit firmly together and form a monolithic joint without risk of damaging the plastic.

How to shape the edging into curves and bends?

In its unbent state, the strip is rigid and maintains a straight line. If you need to create beds in curves, circles, or waves, simply use tin snips or pliers to cut the reinforcing plastic ribs on the underside of the base. Once cut, the edging becomes flexible and can be shaped into the desired curve while retaining its 50 mm height.

How to correctly choose and dose anchoring pins during installation?

Eko-Brim is anchored to the ground using plastic or steel pins. For soft garden soil, the original Eko-Brim pins or alternative 25 cm plastic pins are intended. For rocky and clay-based ground, steel pins are recommended. The number of pins depends on the complexity of the line:

  • For straight unloaded sections use 3 pins per meter (1 pc of edging).
  • For curved sections and shaped bends use 4 to 5 pins per meter due to material tension.
  • For separating load-bearing areas and laying interlocking pavers apply 5 pins per meter .

What properties does the eco-friendly Eko-Brim material have?

The edging is made of recycled plastic, which is frost-resistant, chemically neutral, and resistant to UV radiation. Unlike concrete edging, it does not absorb soil moisture and does not overheat the surrounding area, thus preventing the edge of the lawn from drying out. After prolonged use, the edging is 100% recyclable and easy to dismantle for garden modifications.

Frequently asked questions about the Eko-Brim plastic edging (FAQ)

How do I determine the correct number of pins per meter of edging?

For straight sections, 3 pins per meter (1 m) are needed. When shaping into curves or separating load-bearing areas and paving, we recommend using 4 to 5 pins per meter due to material tension.

Which pins should I choose for rocky ground?

For soft garden soil, the ideal choice is Eko-Brim plastic pins or alternative 25 cm plastic pins. For rocky, clay, or hard terrain, use steel pins.

Can the Eko-Brim edging also be used when laying interlocking pavers?

Yes. The edging with an L-profile, a height of 50 mm and a wall thickness of 5 mm fully replaces concrete edging for both interlocking and large-format paving, without leaving a visible edge in the terrain.

Why is plastic edging gentler on the lawn than concrete?

In summer, concrete edging absorbs soil moisture and causes the surrounding area to overheat, leading to yellowing grass along the edge. Recycled plastic does not absorb moisture, keeps the soil naturally moist, and allows mowing right up to the edge.
