When prismatic (box-type) cells are stacked on top of each other, they slightly expand and contract during charging cycles. Without sufficient insulation between the aluminum cell casings, the blue insulation film can be punctured, resulting in a catastrophic short circuit. Our FR4 epoxy board is designed exactly for this purpose.
