Use of garden edging

Do you need to separate different areas in your garden? Garden edging is the ideal helper, easy to install and resistant to weather changes. Edging prevents soil washing away from flower beds and plants growing outside the designated area. Separating a flower bed or path from the lawn makes mowing with garden equipment easier and simplifies work around plants. The Roman Stone garden edging imitates stones and is therefore also a decorative element in the garden.

How is decorative edging made?

Roman Stone is a range of eco-friendly garden edging made from 100% recycled rubber (TÜV Nord certified), from a sustainable source of recycled tyres from passenger cars and trucks, which are collected from landfills. Rubber granulate is collected from used tyres and transformed into useful products for your garden. Thanks to the rubber, the treads are flexible and durable in any weather, including extreme heat or extreme cold. It does not lose or change colour over the years.

Installing garden edging

You can install the edging flush with the ground or leave part of it protruding. Before laying the edging, it is advisable to dig around the area you will be edging. This will cut through plant roots that could grow under the edging and will also mark the space where you will lay and shape the edging. Each edge piece is 120 cm long and has 4 holes for fixing pegs. Insert the peg into the hole and push it into the ground so that it does not stick out from the edging. If you are shaping the edging, insert the pegs gradually from the edge so that the edging bends more easily.

Useful accessories

Besides the edging itself, garden textiles are also useful when laying it. The most common types include geotextile and non-woven mulching fabric. The fabric usually serves as a separating layer that also prevents weeds from growing through. The fabrics are resistant to mould and rot. Garden fabrics are installed under the edging and are secured by the anchoring nails themselves through the edging. The garden fabric separates the bottom layer, formed by soil, from the top layer, which is most often mulching bark, decorative pebbles, paving, etc.
