Do you need to separate different areas in your garden? Garden edging is an ideal helper that is easy to install and resistant to weather changes. Edging prevents soil erosion from flower beds and plants growing beyond the designated area. Separating a flower bed or path from a lawn makes mowing with garden equipment easier and simplifies work around plants. The Roman Stone garden edging imitates stones and is thus also a decorative element in the garden.

How are the decorative edgings made?

Roman Stone is a range of eco-friendly garden edgings made of recycled rubber (TÜV Nord certified), from a sustainable source of recycled tyres from cars and trucks collected from landfills. The rubber granulate is collected from used tyres and transformed into useful products for your garden. Thanks to the rubber, the treads are flexible and durable in all weather, including extreme heat or extreme cold. It does not lose or change colour over the years.

Installing the garden edging

You can install the edging flush with the terrain or leave part of it protruding. Before laying the edging, it is advisable to dig up the area you will be edging. This will cut through plant roots that could grow under the edging, and it will also mark out the space where you will place the edging and how you will shape it. Each piece of edging is 120 cm long and has 4 holes for anchoring pegs. Insert the peg into the hole and push it into the ground so that it does not protrude from the edging. If you are shaping the edging, insert the pegs gradually from the edge so that it bends more easily.

Useful accessories

In addition to the edging itself, you will also find garden textiles useful when laying it. The most common types include geotextile and non-woven mulching fabric. The fabric usually serves as a separating layer that also prevents weeds from growing through. The fabrics are resistant to mould and rot. Garden textiles are installed under the edging and are secured by the anchoring nails themselves through the edging. The garden textile separates the lower layer, which consists of soil, from the upper layer, which most often consists of mulching bark, decorative pebbles, paving, etc.
