Do you need to separate different areas in your garden? Garden edging is the ideal helper - it is easy to install and resistant to weather changes. Edging prevents soil erosion from flower beds and plants growing outside the designated area. Separating a flower bed or path from the lawn makes mowing with garden equipment easier and simplifies work around plants. How are decorative edgings made?

Roman Stone is a range of eco-friendly garden edgings made from recycled rubber (TÜV Nord certified), from a sustainable source of recycled tires from cars and trucks collected from landfills. The rubber granulate is collected from used tires and transformed into useful products for your garden. Thanks to the rubber, the treads are flexible and durable in all weather, including extreme heat or extreme cold. It does not lose or change color over the years.

Installing garden edging

You can install the edging flush with the terrain or leave part of it protruding. Before laying the edging, it is advisable to dig up the area you will be edging. This will cut through the roots of plants that could grow under the edging, and it will also help you mark out the space where you will place the edging and how you will shape it. Each edging piece is 120 cm long and has 4 holes for fixing pins. Insert the pin into the hole and press it into the ground so that it does not protrude from the edging. If you are shaping the edging, insert the pins gradually from the edge so that the edging bends more easily.

Useful accessories

In addition to the edging itself, you will also make use of garden textiles when laying it. The most common types are geotextile and non-woven mulching fabric. The fabric is most often used as a separating layer that also prevents weeds from growing through. The fabrics are resistant to mold and rot. Garden fabrics are installed under the edging, and they are secured by the anchoring nails themselves through the edging. The garden fabric separates the bottom layer, formed by the soil, from the top layer, which most often consists of mulching bark, decorative pebbles, paving, etc.
