DLF Turfline Shadow grass mix 1kg is used for establishing a new lawn in shady locations where there is a lack of sunlight. This special shade mix is suitable if you plan to have a lawn on an area that is shaded most of the day. However, no grass mix can survive completely without sun, so in such a case, consider mulching bark, natural stone, or artificial turf instead.

To achieve the ideal result, professionals use up to 50g/m2 (which means 5kg per 100m2), and with proper watering, you can avoid the need for overseeding.

PREPARATION:

We recommend first removing the old growth, roots, weeds, and stones. The top layer needs to be loosened, thoroughly watered, a 2cm layer of lawn soil applied, and left to settle for about a week. It then needs to be rolled. Finally, it is advisable to level the soil with a rake so that the top layer of soil is well loosened.

The ideal time to plant a new lawn is (in an average year) at the turn of April/May, or in autumn in September/October.

When sowing, to achieve an even distribution of grass seed, we recommend using a hand seeder for smaller areas or trolley seeders for larger areas.

MAINTENANCE :

Mowing :

The lawn is mowed for the first time when it reaches a height of about 6-8 cm. It is mowed for the second time to a height of 3-4cm. Later, the grass can be mowed to various heights depending on the type of seed used.

Care:

A lawn intended to be a garden decoration requires regular mowing (ideally with the help of a Wiper robotic mower), the supply of necessary nutrients 3 times a year (spring/transitional/autumn fertilization), and chemical treatment against diseases and pests as needed.

NOTE: before planting the lawn, also consider laying a mole net (about 5-6cm below the surface, ideally under the substrate), to make sure that all your work does not ultimately go to waste because of this unwanted guest.
