GrassRoll Extra Grass Reinforcement Mat 2x20m up to 7.5t
Code: OZ_006012CProduct detailed description
Professional solution for demanding parking
The GrassRoll Extra 7.5t grass reinforcement mat with dimensions of 2x20m represents the most durable option in our range of grass reinforcement products. With a profile thickness of 14.5 mm and a weight of 2 kg/m², it is designed for areas subject to regular traffic load. An ideal choice for permanent parking lots, access roads, or frequently visited grassy zones, where ordinary mesh cannot withstand the load.
This system preserves the natural green appearance of the landscape while providing sufficient load capacity for both passenger vehicles and trucks, without the need for extensive excavation work or concreting.

Why choose GrassRoll Extra?
GrassRoll Extra is not just an ordinary mesh, but an engineered system combining maximum durability with easy handling. Here are the reasons why it is the best choice for your parking area:
- Extreme load capacity up to 7.5 tons: Handles not only passenger cars but also heavier SUVs and vans (axle load).
- No excavation required: Save on earthworks - it is installed directly onto the existing lawn.
- Safe walking: The unique oscillating structure (3D profile) provides better traction and prevents slipping, even when the grass is wet.
- Preserves greenery: Unlike concrete pavers, it does not overheat or dry out the grass in summer, keeping the area naturally green.
- Easy installation: Unroll the mat, let it "settle" and then apply it - quickly and easily without effort.
- Eco-friendly and sustainable: Made from recycled polymers and fully permeable to water (SuDS compatible).
- Certification: One of the few mats certified for parking on grass without subgrade replacement.
Unique structure and durability
The Grassroll reinforcement mat is made from chemically neutral, recycled high-density polyethylene (HDPE) granules. Its specific oscillating construction is not just a visual feature - it was designed to improve traction and slip resistance.
The grid protects the root system of plants from direct wheel pressure, preventing soil compaction and the formation of ruts. The material is stabilized against sunlight, ensuring a long service life even under direct sun exposure.
- High tensile strength (14 kN/m).
- Resistance to rot and biological influences.
- Environmentally friendly (100% recyclable).
Where can you use GrassRoll Extra?
Thanks to its exceptional load capacity (up to 7.5 tons per axle on a firm base), GrassRoll Extra is designed for the most demanding applications among grass reinforcement mats. It is the ideal solution for places that need to withstand more than just occasional passage.
In addition to parking lots, the mat is also suitable for reinforcing surfaces for events, festivals, or as an access road for maintenance vehicles in parks and gardens.
- Permanent and temporary parking lots.
- Access roads to houses and garages.
- Areas for caravans and campsites.
- Wheelchair-accessible pathways.
Step 1: Preparing the terrain is key
Quality subgrade is key to the long service life and functionality of the entire system. The surface must be smooth, firm, and capable of draining water. Before installation, we recommend mowing the existing lawn to the shortest possible length, or locally reseeding grass seeds if needed.
Any unevenness, holes, or depressions must be leveled by filling with sandy soil (a mixture of sand and clay) and then compacted. If the subgrade is waterlogged or unstable, it must first be reinforced (e.g. with a gravel bed), otherwise the mat will not function properly.
Step 2: Unrolling the Grassroll
Since GrassRoll is supplied in rolls, it tends to curl after unpacking. Before anchoring, it is essential to unroll the mat at the intended location and let it "rest" for at least an hour to regain its natural flatness.
The ambient temperature significantly affects the time needed for flattening - in cold weather, this may take longer. We recommend loosely securing the corners with pegs so the mat does not shift while "acclimatizing". Only once the mat has flattened out should you proceed with the final anchoring using staples.
Step 3: Anchoring technique for maximum stability
Secure anchoring is the most important part of the installation. For one roll (2m x 20m), it is recommended to use at least 120 steel U-pins, which are included in the package. From experience, it is advisable to use double the number of steel staples.
Recommended anchoring pattern:
- Outer edges: Anchor every 300-350 mm.
- Center of the area: Create a "chevron" pattern in 3 rows, with a spacing of 500 mm across and a maximum of 750 mm along the length.
- Drive the staples parallel to the mesh cells so they do not protrude and damage the mower blades when mowing.
Step 4: Joining rolls and important details
When installing multiple rolls next to each other, never overlap them. Place the mats tightly against each other. Secure the joint with a single row of staples that catches the edges of both adjacent mats at once.
Watch the temperature: Plastic reacts to temperature changes. If you install the mat in cold weather, leave a gap of approximately 10-15 mm between individual rolls. This expansion gap allows the material to expand during hot summer days without the surface bulging.
Care and use after installation
After anchoring, you can lightly dust the surface with sandy soil to level out small depressions, but the mat must not be completely covered. For best results, we recommend not loading the area with cars during the growing season, approximately 6-8 weeks, until the grass has grown through the mesh.
If immediate use is necessary, it is possible, but expect reduced traction when wet and slower grass growth. Mowing is done as usual, but for the first 3 to 4 mowings, set the mower blades to a higher level.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) - GrassRoll Extra
Can I park immediately after installation?
The manufacturer strongly recommends waiting 6-8 weeks (during the growing season) for the grass to firmly interlock with the mat. Although it is technically possible to use the area immediately if necessary, early loading may slow grass growth and reduce the aesthetic result.
Is the surface safe when it rains?
Until the grass has grown through the mat, the plastic surface may be more slippery than a regular lawn when wet or frosty. The oscillating structure of GrassRoll Extra is designed to minimize the risk of slipping, but we recommend extra caution and, if needed, marking the area.
How do I properly mow a lawn with the mat installed?
Mowing is done in the usual way. It is important that the mat is properly anchored and "settled" on the terrain. For the first 3-4 mowings, set the mower to a higher cutting height so the grass can grow through the mesh structure.
Why might the mat wrinkle over time?
Wrinkling is usually caused by thermal expansion of the plastic. If the mat was installed in cold weather without an expansion gap, it may lift in summer. The solution is to install it with a gap (approx. 15 mm) and, if needed, add extra anchoring staples.
