What insects it is intended for

The trap is primarily designed for catching these types of horse flies:

• Tabanus bovinus – Common horse fly
• Tabanus bromius – Band-eyed brown horse fly
• Tabanus sudeticus – Dark giant horse fly
  
  

How it works

The trap is equipped with a container in which the insects are caught. It is important to place the trap for catching horse flies in a location that is exposed to as much sunlight as possible. The heat that the trap absorbing sunlight emits mimics a warm-blooded body and attracts horse flies and other flying insects. The horse fly approaches the trap, tries to sting it, but is unable to. Instead, it usually flies upward. There it hits the "umbrella" and is guided into the funnel-shaped trap, from where there is no way out. Regular emptying of the trap is necessary. If the trap is placed in a location where horse flies occur in greater numbers, it can be emptied every 2-3 hours.
