This is a perfect combination of meadow flowers ranging from the Alpine lowlands to the foothills, which beautifully decorates the surroundings of cottages or slopes. They prefer sunny locations, but can also cope well with light shade from below. One 250 g package covers approximately 20 to 25 m2. It is best to sow it in the appropriate season, i.e. in spring or autumn. First, spread the seeds evenly, gently work them into the soil, lightly cover with soil and then roll.

Important :

Authentic natural plants develop more slowly in the first year after sowing. Therefore, the meadow will fully bloom only from the second year onwards and belongs among very hardy species. Already in the first year after sowing, it is necessary to mow the growth more frequently, leaving the cut about 4 to 6 cm above the surface. From the second year onwards, we recommend mowing whenever the flower growth stops blooming.

Warning :

Seeds of a true flower meadow are characterized by extremely slow development during the first year. Therefore, do not leave meadow seeds on an already established lawn, nor mix them with standard grass mixtures. There is a high probability that the meadow flowers would suppress the original growth.

Preparation:

First, we recommend removing existing growth, weeds and stone debris. The top layer needs to be thoroughly loosened, watered generously, add approximately 2 cm of lawn substrate and let it rest for a week. Then it needs to be rolled. Finally, it is advisable to level the soil with a rake, which will ensure that the top layer of soil is sufficiently loosened.

To achieve the optimal result, it is advisable to cover the area with hay after sowing, which creates ideal conditions for the germination of all flowers included in the package.

The most suitable time for planting a new lawn (in an average year) is at the turn of April and May, or in autumn in September or October.

Watering :

During germination of the grass seeds (the first 14 to 28 days), it is essential to water the area regularly and generously, so that the lawn does not dry out even for a short time, ideally in the morning and evening. Water should not stand on the surface. The best results are achieved by using automatic irrigation set to shorter daily watering intervals. In case of prolonged drought, watering must be significantly intensified.

Maintenance :

Before planting the lawn, also consider installing a mole net (approximately 3 to 4 cm below the surface, ideally under the substrate), to make sure all your work does not end in vain because of this unwanted guest.
