The automatic opener LEGI for roof greenhouse windows replaces manual window opening, so you no longer have to constantly think about when it's necessary to open and close the windows in your greenhouse. The opener's piston, included in the package, contains wax/oil that reacts to ambient temperatures. As the temperature rises, the lever opens, which in turn opens the window. The system works in reverse when the temperature drops.

The opening start point can be set within a temperature range of 17 °C to 25 °C, depending on the grower's needs. The upper limit for full opening is at 34 °C. The maximum total window weight for proper functioning is up to 14 kg (classic polycarbonate windows).

If your greenhouse, besides the roof window, also has ventilation on the front of the greenhouse (a door or front window), you can also use the automatic opener for front windows. However, keep in mind that warm air stays near the ceiling, which is why roof ventilation is very important. Front ventilation of the greenhouse can be considered more of a supplementary option. Also, if you install the opener on the front door of the greenhouse, that door will no longer be usable for entry. Using it on the entire door is therefore suitable for walk-through greenhouses (e.g. LEGI greenhouses), where you decide to use only one door. When installed on front windows (part of the door), it does not restrict the use of the door itself in any way.

Regular ventilation of the greenhouse is essential to ensure optimal conditions for plants, which prefer a balanced temperature with minimal temperature fluctuations. Another necessary condition for optimal yield is regular fresh air exchange, which affects the health and productivity of plants. In addition, ventilation also contributes to the pollination process or prevents the spread of pests and disease-causing organisms.

Removing the piston

If not in use for a longer period, or when temperatures drop below 7 °C, it is necessary to simply remove the piston from the opener and store it in a dry and warm place to prevent damage to its functionality. The opener's frame itself can remain attached to the greenhouse window.

Before reinstalling, it is advisable to lubricate the inner part of the piston (e.g. with grease or oil) so that the rod moves smoothly inside the piston cylinder. If the piston becomes non-functional, there is no need to buy a new opener; simply purchase a replacement piston HERE.
