Cutting the screen

Before purchasing the screen, it is a good idea to measure the balcony or fence so that you don't buy unnecessarily more material (or you can return it to us - even up to 100 years later).

In most cases, you will need to shorten or adjust the mat in some way. For this, ordinary office scissors or a utility knife will do the job. When cutting, it is recommended to use a spirit level or a board to make the cut completely straight. You can use scissors for a straight cut as well as for cutting arcs or other shapes. Even though the mat is composed (welded) of horizontal and vertical woven artificial rattan strips 19 mm wide, the screen does not fray or gradually unravel after cutting.

Installing the screen

Now it's time to install the screen on the railing, fence or balcony. Ideally, install it in warmer weather, as the material becomes more pliable and splits less. Fixing varies depending on the options offered by the surface, but the most common method of installation is attaching the mat using cable ties.

On the windward side, place the ties closer together - approx. 15-20 cm apart, on the leeward side a spacing of 30-50 cm between individual ties is sufficient. Because the screen is composed of several woven strips with small gaps between them, the cable tie can be threaded anywhere across the entire surface of the screen and there is no need to pierce it. Neighbor's tip: When buying cable ties, try to match the color of the screen and the cable tie for a perfect design. Cable ties can be bought in the traditional black color, as well as in other color variants. As with the screen, also think in advance about the minimum length of tie you will need (e.g. based on the circumference of the post or railing).

Easy maintenance

The LEGI balcony screen is easy to use and maintain. To clean the screen of ordinary dust, simply wash it with lukewarm water with a little detergent, such as dish soap. Because the surface of the screen is very realistic, pollen or other impurities may also settle between the individual rattan strips. An ordinary dish sponge or brush works best for cleaning here. If your screen is located in the garden, you can use a hose or pressure washer to rinse it.

Artificial rattan

The screen is made of shape- and color-stable 100% recyclable polyethylene (otherwise known as synthetic rattan, poly rattan or techno rattan) using a technology that welds individual fibers together, ensuring that the material does not fray when shaped. The material is resistant to UV radiation, frost, mold, dirt and water. It has high tensile strength and can be bent and cut into any desired shape. Artificial rattan is a double-sided, easy-to-clean material, suitable for both outdoor and indoor use. Unlike natural rattan, artificial rattan does not show the effects of time, which most often manifest in natural rattan as peeling and splitting.

Artificial rattan is of course safe for health, so there is no need to worry about the effects of harmful substances on your health. The material is also fully recyclable, leaving no impact on the environment. Thanks to all these properties, it stands out with a very long lifespan of up to 20 years.
