Cutting the screen

Before purchasing the screen, it is advisable to measure your balcony or fence so that you don't buy unnecessarily more material (or you can return it to us - even after up to 100 years).

In most cases you will need to shorten or adjust the mat in some way. For this you can use ordinary office scissors or a snap-off knife. When cutting, we recommend using a level or a board to ensure a completely straight cut. Scissors can be used for both straight cuts and cutting curves or other shapes. Even though the mat is composed of (welded) horizontal and vertical woven synthetic rattan strips 19 mm wide, the screen does not fray or gradually unravel after cutting.

Installing the screen

Now it's time to install the screen on the railing, fence or balcony. Ideally, install it in warmer weather, as the material becomes more pliable and splits less. The method of attachment depends on the options offered by the surface, but the most common method of installation is attaching the mat using zip ties.

On the windward side, place the ties more densely - approximately 15-20 cm apart, on the leeward side a spacing of 30-50 cm between individual ties is sufficient. Because the screen is composed of several woven strips that have small gaps between them, the zip tie can be threaded through anywhere across the entire surface of the screen and there is no need to puncture it. Neighbor's tip: When buying zip ties, try to match the color of the screen and the tie for a perfect design. Zip ties can be purchased in the traditional black color as well as in other color variants. Just like with the screen, think ahead about the minimum length of tie you will need (e.g. based on the circumference of the post or railing).

Low maintenance

The LEGI balcony screen is easy to use and maintain. To clean ordinary dust off the screen, washing with lukewarm water and a bit of dish soap is enough, for example Jar. Because the surface of the screen is very realistic, pollen or other dirt can settle between the individual rattan strips as well. Here, an ordinary dish sponge or brush will serve you best for cleaning. If you have the screen placed in the garden, you can use a hose or pressure washer to rinse it off.

Synthetic rattan

The screen is made of shape- and color-stable 100% recyclable polyethylene (also known as synthetic rattan, polyrattan or technorattan) using a technology that welds the individual fibers together, which ensures the material does not fray when shaped. The material is resistant to UV radiation, frost, mold, dirt and water. It has high tensile strength and can be bent and cut into any desired shape. Synthetic rattan is a double-sided, easy-to-wash material, suitable for both outdoor and indoor use. Unlike natural rattan, synthetic rattan does not show signs of aging, which in natural rattan is most often manifested by peeling and splitting.

Synthetic rattan is of course completely safe for health, so there is no need to worry about the effects of harmful substances on your health. The material is also fully recyclable and thus leaves no negative impact on the environment. Thanks to all these properties, it stands out with a very long lifespan of up to 20 years.
