OZY Gravel Stabilization Grid GravelGrid 80x120cm white
Code: OZ_002009ABIProduct detailed description
Stable gravel surface without wheel ruts
The GravelGrid stabilization grid, 80x120 cm with a height of 30 mm, is a durable HDPE system designed to fix gravel in place. The hexagonal cell structure with a diameter of 43 mm effectively prevents lateral shifting of gravel under load and eliminates the formation of ruts. The integrated thermally bonded geotextile allows rainwater to pass through while blocking weed growth and separating the gravel from the soil.
Extreme
load capacity
Withstands pressure of up to 400 t/m² once filled, ideal for cars and trucks.
Frost
resistance
The tough HDPE material remains flexible and does not crack even at -20 °C.
Barrier
against weeds
The polyester layer with a density of 50 g/m² blocks invasive root systems.
High
drainage
The open structure drains water at a rate of 180 l/min/m² without forming puddles.
Main advantages of the GravelGrid grid
- Certified strength: According to ISO 844, it withstands a pressure of 90 t/m² when empty and up to 400 t/m² after the final gravel fill.
- Torsional stability in curves: The reinforced rib wall thickness (0.8 to 1.4 mm) successfully absorbs shear forces when the wheels of a parked vehicle turn.
- Thermally non-destructive bonding: The backing fabric is fully welded to the base of the grid using hot air, eliminating the risk of peeling off.
- Barrier-free profile: The reinforced surface meets PMR certification conditions for smooth movement of wheelchairs, strollers and bicycles.
- Sustainable European origin: Made from 100% recyclable high-density polyethylene with low primary energy consumption during production.
Brief installation guide for the gravel stabilization grid
Installation is quick and uncomplicated. Proper subgrade preparation is essential for the final strength and stability of the surface.
1. Preparation and edging
Remove the topsoil to the required depth. Install edging that extends 2 cm above the top edge of the laid grid.
2. Base and levelling layer
For vehicles: prepare a 25 cm base of crushed stone (fraction 0–32 mm) and compact it. Then apply a 5 cm levelling layer of fine aggregate (fraction 2–4 mm) and compact again.
3. Laying and filling
Lay the grids with the geotextile overlapping. Cut as needed with an angle grinder. Pour decorative gravel (fraction 8–16 mm) so that it overlaps the grid by 1–2 cm. Do not press the decorative gravel down. After some time, top up the gravel where it has settled.
Important information about shipping and delivery format
To optimize package dimensions for courier services, the grids are packed in logistical configurations according to the number of pieces ordered:
- Orders with an EVEN number (e.g. 2, 4, 6 pcs): The goods are shipped as joined panels measuring 160×120 cm, folded in half. On site, they can easily be cut into separate 80×120 cm pieces.
- Orders with an ODD number (e.g. 3, 5, 7 pcs): The shipment contains full folded panels of 160×120 cm and one final piece measuring 80×120 cm.
NOTICE: Neither the manufacturer nor the seller is responsible for deformation or subsidence of the surface caused by failure to follow the recommended base layer compaction.
Solution for uncut edges for robotic mowers
By using GravelGrid grids, you create a reinforced gravel strip that provides a stable path for the perimeter movement of the machine. A robotic mower can drive one wheel off the lawn on the solid surface, allowing it to mow the grass right up to the very edge without the need for manual finishing.
1. Excavation and reinforcement of the soil horizon
Turf and topsoil are removed from the edge of the property. A shallow excavation is sufficient for robotic mower traffic, into which a 5 cm levelling layer of crushed aggregate (fraction 2–4 mm) is laid. The base is then thoroughly compacted.
2. Laying and cutting the cells to size
The panels are laid with the geotextile overlap side so that the joints overlap by approximately 10 cm. Thanks to the high flexibility of the HDPE material, the panels precisely follow even minor terrain irregularities. Adjusting the length and shaping curves is done quickly using an angle grinder.
3. Fitting to edging and final gravel fill
The panels are fixed to the installed garden edging, which should ideally extend 2 cm above the top rib edge of the grid. The cells are then evenly filled with decorative gravel of fraction 4–8 mm or 8–11 mm. The initial excess of gravel (1–2 cm above the cells) will settle level with the edge after a few weeks.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) - GravelGrid
What is the load capacity of the GravelGrid grid?
Once filled with suitable aggregate, it achieves a load capacity of up to 400 tons/m² according to ISO 844. Without filling, it withstands a pressure of 90 tons/m². It is certified for passenger cars up to 3.5 tons, driveways and parking areas.
How does the integrated geotextile help with stability?
The non-woven polyester geotextile (50 g/m²) is thermally bonded to the bottom of the grid. It prevents gravel from falling through the plastic structure, prevents mixing of layers with the subsoil, and effectively reduces weed growth.
Does HDPE material crack during winter frosts?
No. Unlike common plastics, high-density polyethylene (HDPE) retains its flexibility and toughness even at temperatures down to -20 °C. It withstands mechanical load and shear forces during winter vehicle movement.
What type and fraction of gravel should be used?
For areas with vehicle traffic, we recommend aggregate with a fraction of 8–16 mm. For pedestrian zones and lawn edges, decorative gravel with a size of 4–8 mm or 8–11 mm is suitable. Consumption is approximately 65 kg/m².
