Detailed information

Product detailed description

Smooth sliding and reliable attachment of the shade sail

The set of 20 ivory Peddy Shield sliders with stainless steel screws is used for mechanical attachment and smooth guiding of a shade sail along guide wires. These unique sliding glides, 30 mm long, are calibrated exclusively for stainless steel wire ropes with a diameter of 2 mm. The design of the sliders makes it easy to pull the sail open and closed, as well as quickly release it from the wire by simply turning it 90° without needing to dismantle the tensioning system.

Stainless steel
screws

The package includes stainless steel screws that resist corrosion outdoors.

For wires
up to 2 mm

Precisely calibrated for smooth stainless steel wires with a diameter of 2 mm.

Washable
at 40 °C

No need to remove the sliders — they can be washed directly together with the shade sail.

90°
turn

Simple attachment to the wire and release from the wire by turning.

Key advantages of the sliding glides

  • Maintenance-free washing in the washing machine: The sliders are made of a high-quality, temperature-stable plastic that withstands a washing cycle at 40 °C without damage. There is no need to unscrew them when cleaning the sail.
  • Absolute corrosion resistance: The included stainless steel mounting screws guarantee permanent mechanical strength of the connection without the risk of rusting or staining the sail.
  • Easy installation and removal: To attach the sail to the wire, simply insert the wire into the slider's groove and turn it 90 degrees. Removing the sail is just as quick, in the opposite direction.
  • Versatile use: The set is intended for ready-made Peddy Shield shade sails, but it is also ideal for sewing your own shade sails, whether DIY or through a tailoring service.

Instructions for correctly fitting the sliders onto the sail hem

For trouble-free, smooth sliding of the shade sail without jamming, it is important to follow the exact technological procedure during installation:

  • Keep a 20 cm spacing: For even tensioning, we recommend a spacing of exactly 20 cm between sliders. At this distance, the depth of the folds of the rolled-up sail will be approximately 10 cm.
  • Skip the corners of the sail: Leave the first 2 cm at the reinforced corners of the sail free. Plastic sliders are difficult to attach to the reinforced seams in the corners and could damage the needle during installation.
  • Screw orientation: Slide the glides onto the edge hem of the sail so that the side with the stainless steel screw head faces outward or upward. This way, the screw will not be visible when viewed from below.
  • Thorough tightening: Tighten the screw with a small Phillips screwdriver so that the slider is fixed exactly at a right angle (90°) to the sail hem. An incorrect angle causes the glides to cross and jam on the wire.

Technical parameters and material composition

Peddy Shield fasteners meet strict dimensional standards that ensure a minimal coefficient of friction when in contact with the metal wire.

  • Slider dimensions (L x W): 30 mm x 13 mm (width at the attachment point: 10 mm)
  • Glide material: Durable, UV-resistant and frost-resistant technical polymer
  • Screw material: 100% stainless steel
  • Glide colour: Ivory (beige)
  • Compatible guide profile: Exclusively stainless steel wire ropes with a diameter of 2 mm
  • Recommended installation spacing: Every 20 cm along the sail hem
  • Contents of the retail package: 20 pcs ivory sliders, 20 pcs stainless steel screws

Important requirements for the guide wire

To maintain optimal function and smooth sliding, a certified stainless steel wire rope with a smooth surface must be used. Ordinary industrial steel wires have a surface that is too rough, acting like a file. On a rough wire, the plastic wears down and abrades quickly, which leads to the system jamming.

NOTICE: The seller is not responsible for damage or excessive wear of the sliders caused by the use of non-original guide wires with a rough surface.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) - Wire Sliders

What diameter of guide wire is compatible with these sliders?

The sliders are calibrated exclusively for stainless steel wire ropes with a diameter of exactly 2 mm and a smooth surface. Ordinary industrial wires are not suitable due to their rough texture, as it prevents smooth sliding and causes jamming.

Do I need to remove the sliders before washing the shade sail?

No, the sliders are designed to be permanently screwed to the sail hem. Both the glide material and the included stainless steel screws are resistant to water and temperature, so you can wash the sail in a washing machine at up to 40 °C with the sliders attached.

What spacing between sliders is recommended when making a sail?

For optimal tensioning, we recommend placing the sliders 20 cm apart. At this distance, when the sail is drawn closed, you will achieve even, aesthetically pleasing folds approximately 10 cm deep.

How many sliders will I need for my shade sail?

The number of sliders depends on the length of the sail. For a length of 270 cm, we recommend 20 pieces (10 on each side), for 330 cm you need 26 pieces (13 on each side), and for 420 cm, 34 pieces are needed (17 on each side).
