Anchoring

The plastic edging needs to be gradually anchored during installation. You can choose from two options - plastic and metal nails. Plastic anchoring nails are mainly used for anchoring into common ground - for example into loosened soil. Steel anchoring nails, on the other hand, are used in places where you encounter denser ground - for example clay soil.

When placing a straight piece of plastic edging, 3 anchoring nails per meter are sufficient. However, if you are bending and shaping the edging, it is advisable to anchor the piece with 6 anchoring nails. A one-meter piece of LEGI edging always has 6 holes for nails. Both types of nails mentioned fit into these holes. A simple hammer is enough to drive the nails in.

Shaping

Due to the nature of garden areas, flower beds, or paths, plastic edgings need to be shaped. Before bending, you need to cut the edging, for which ordinary tin snips or combination pliers will suffice, and then you can start shaping. A one-meter piece of edging can even be bent all the way around, creating a circle with a diameter of about 32 cm. You can use this shape, for example, when bordering trees.

To increase the material's flexibility, we recommend leaving the edgings in direct sunlight for a while, submerging them in warm water, or heating them with a hot air gun. In most cases, however, this heating process is not necessary due to the high flexibility.

Connecting

If you are wondering how the individual one-meter pieces of edging can be connected, we have good news for you. All LEGI edgings are equipped on each side with a lock system that ensures a reliable and firm connection. The connection is made by simply sliding the pieces together, which does not require much force, so anyone can manage it. The connecting system is also useful when you want to join the edging into a circle.

In addition to the edgings themselves and anchoring nails, you will also find garden fabrics useful when installing plastic edgings. The most common types include geotextile and non-woven mulching fabric. The fabric usually serves as a separating layer, which also prevents weeds from growing through. The fabrics are resistant to mold and rot. Garden fabrics are installed under the edging, and they are secured by the anchoring nails themselves through the edging. The garden fabric separates the lower layer, which consists of soil, from the upper layer, which usually consists of mulch bark, decorative stones, paving, etc.
