Anchoring

The plastic edging must be gradually anchored during installation. You can choose from two options - plastic and metal pins. Plastic anchoring pins are mainly used for anchoring into common subsoil - for example loosened soil. Steel anchoring pins, on the other hand, are used in places with denser subsoil - for example clay soil.

When installing a straight piece of plastic edging, 3 anchoring pins per 1 meter are sufficient. However, if you are bending and shaping the edging, it is advisable to anchor the piece with 6 anchoring pins. Each 1-meter piece of LEGI edging always has 6 holes for pins. Both types of pins mentioned fit into these holes. An ordinary hammer is enough to drive in the pins.

Shaping

Due to the nature of garden areas, flower beds, or paths, plastic edgings need to be shaped. Before bending, the edging must be notched; ordinary side cutters or combination pliers are enough for this, and then you can start shaping it. A single one-meter piece of edging can even be bent all the way around, creating a circle with a diameter of approximately 32 cm. This shape is useful, for example, for bordering trees.

To increase the flexibility of the material, we recommend leaving the edgings in direct sunlight for a while, immersing them in warm water, or heating them with a hot air gun. However, in most cases this heating process is not necessary due to the high flexibility of the material.

Connecting

If you are wondering how the individual one-meter pieces of edging can be connected, we have good news for you. All LEGI edgings are equipped on each side with a locking system that ensures a reliable and firm connection. The connection is made by simply sliding the pieces together, which does not require much force and can be done by anyone. You will also use the connecting system when you want to join the edging into a circle.

In addition to the edgings themselves and anchoring pins, garden textiles are also useful when installing plastic edgings. The most common types include geotextile and non-woven mulching textile. The textile most often serves as a separating layer, which also prevents weeds from growing through. The textiles are not subject to mold or rot. Garden textiles are installed under the edging and are held in place by the anchoring pins themselves going through the edging. The garden textile separates the lower layer, formed by the soil, from the upper layer, most often formed by mulching bark, decorative pebbles, paving, etc.
