    Programmable room thermostats are the most widely used and best-selling type of thermostat. They let you regulate the temperature based on a user-defined schedule – a daytime heating temperature and a lower night-time temperature. Some thermostats can sense temperature changes as small as 0.2 °C, for example the SALUS 091FL thermostat. Others typically sense in steps of 0.5 °C. All thermostats are voltage-free, meaning they switch a contact through which no electric current flows. Closing the contact signals a call for heat to the boiler.
