30A MPPT controller for all available battery types with system voltage of 12V or 24V and for PV panels with max. power of 390W (12V) or 780W (24V) with max. input voltage of 55V and min. It is therefore also suitable for panels with a system voltage of 12V, which generate 16–18V at maximum load. Using an internal converter, this controller adjusts the V-A characteristics of the current source - the solar panel - so that it is optimal for charging the battery. It can utilize energy from solar panels better than a PWM controller, which regulates charging only by pulse limiting the direct connection between the solar panel and the battery, where the pulse width is proportional to the state of the battery being charged. In other words, the MPPT controller can generate ideal voltage and current for charging the battery from a higher voltage and lower current source. For example, it converts 18V and 5A into 14.5V/6.2A. The conversion efficiency of the V-A characteristics is usually above 95%, so losses are minimal, and the controllers can generally be adapted to different battery types to make charging as optimal as possible.
