Vaillant aroVAIR VA 2-045 CN (order number 0010035093) is the second most powerful console fan coil in the aroVAIR VA 2 CN range, with a cooling and heating capacity of 4.30 kW at the highest fan speed. The casing has the same outer dimensions as the smaller VA 2-035 CN model, but the internal heat exchanger and hydraulic parameters are dimensioned for higher output – ideal for spaces where you want to keep the compact silhouette of the unit but need noticeably more cooling and heating capacity than the mid-range model in the series.
How the VA 2-045 CN fan coil works
This is a two-pipe fan coil unit supplied with water from an air-to-water heat pump (typically the Vaillant aroTHERM) or another suitable heat/cold source – without its own compressor and without a refrigerant circuit. Which rooms the VA 2-045 CN is suitable for
Higher output compared with the VA 2-035 CN model (same casing size, but a more powerful heat exchanger) makes the VA 2-045 CN suitable for larger living rooms, open-plan kitchen-living areas, rooms with large glazed areas facing south or west (higher heat load in summer), or rooms with an increased heat loss in winter (high ceilings, corner rooms with several external walls). As an approximate guide, this covers spaces from about 30 to 45 m², always depending on the specific thermal calculation of the building.
The increased fan power input at the highest speed (50 W compared with 26 W for the VA 2-035 CN) and the higher sound power level (59 dB(A) compared with 52 dB(A)) are the price paid for higher output – however, during normal operation at low and medium speeds the unit is just as quiet as the smaller model, and high speed is only used briefly for rapid cooling or heating of the room.
Installation and hydraulic connection
Installation is identical to the other models in the range – console (parapet) installation under a window, free-standing on VAZ-015-070-F1 legs, or ceiling-mounted if the layout requires it. Given the higher pressure drop on the water side (up to 54.3 kPa at high speed in heating mode), when designing the hydraulic circuit it is necessary to allow for sufficient head from the circulation pump, especially if several fan coils are connected to a single circuit at the same time.
The hydraulic connection on the supply and return is again G3/4" with recommended shut-off valves for future servicing. The condensate drain (18.5 mm outer diameter) must be sloped towards the sewer or a collecting tank – with the higher cooling output and therefore higher moisture condensation, checking that the drain is clear before the summer season is even more important than with the smaller models in the series. The 230 V electrical connection requires a separate protected circuit, and control is provided by a room controller connected to the unit's terminal block.

Pipework, insulation and energy efficiency

Electrical safety and connection
Electrical installation work on the VA 2-045 CN unit and on the connected room controller may only be carried out by qualified electricians with the appropriate authorisation, in accordance with the applicable standards and regulations of the given country. Before any intervention, the unit must be disconnected from the mains on all poles using a suitable isolating device (e.g. a circuit breaker or fuse) with a minimum contact gap of 3 mm, and it must be ensured that it cannot be unintentionally switched back on during the work.
