Vaillant climaVAIR pro VAIB1-035WNO is an outdoor unit of a wall-mounted monosplit air conditioner from the climaVAIR pro range. It is a medium-sized model intended primarily for standard living rooms, larger bedrooms or smaller offices, and in practice it is sold as a companion to the indoor unit VAIB1-035WNI – which is already available in our range, so you can complete a functional pair, or replace just a damaged outdoor unit of an existing system without needing to replace the indoor unit as well and without any intervention in the room's internal wiring. This unit is designed exclusively for monosplit operation (one outdoor + one indoor unit) and is not part of the climaVAIR multi range, which is used to connect several indoor units simultaneously to one larger outdoor unit from the VAM1 range.

Performance and energy efficiency

The VAIB1-035WNO model offers a rated cooling capacity of 3.5 kW and a heating capacity of 3.8 kW. The maximum length of the refrigerant piping is 15 m, and the maximum height difference between the outdoor and indoor units is 10 m.

Technology and design

The heart of the unit is a rotary compressor with DC inverter control, which smoothly adjusts speed according to current heating or cooling demand instead of switching on/off abruptly. This provides a more stable room temperature (without the large fluctuations typical of older on/off units), lower electricity consumption and quieter operation at partial load. A multi-speed axial fan ensures sufficient heat dissipation from the condenser even at higher summer temperatures. Power supply is standard single-phase 220–240 V / 50 Hz, so installation does not require any special electrical wiring beyond a standard household connection (leave the actual wiring to a qualified electrician).

The unit is equipped with an integrated WiFi module for connection to the myVAILLANT Services app, through which the whole system can be controlled remotely – start pre-cooling the room before arriving home, schedule a weekly operation plan, monitor energy consumption history, or get diagnostic information directly in the mobile app in case of a fault, without having to wait for a service technician visit just for basic diagnostics.

Mounting and installation

It is important to maintain minimum clearances around the unit (typically at least 30 cm from the side wall and approximately 100 cm in the direction of the air outlet) to prevent recirculation of warm air back into the intake and a resulting drop in performance. The condensate drain should be directed away from footpaths, entrances and parking spaces due to the risk of icing in winter.

Connection to the indoor unit VAIB1-035WNI is made using insulated copper refrigerant piping (available separately in diameters from 1/4" to 5/8" in lengths of 10 or 25 m) and an electrical cable for power supply and communication between the units. Connection of the refrigerant circuit, vacuuming and leak testing must be carried out exclusively by a person certified to work with F-gases – this is a legal requirement, not just a manufacturer's recommendation, and failure to comply may result in loss of warranty as well as a safety risk.

Maintenance during operation

In winter, the surroundings of the unit should be checked regularly so that snow does not block the intake or outlet, and so that an excessive layer of ice does not form around the base from condensate. A professional service inspection every 1-2 years (checking refrigerant pressure, circuit tightness, drainage system function and electrical connections) will extend the unit's lifetime and, for certain refrigerant quantities in the system, is also legally required (regular F-gas leak inspection).
