Product detailed description

Quick-fit set L10 for Vaillant ecoCOMPACT and auroCOMPACT

The quick-fit set L10 is an original Vaillant hydraulic accessory for stationary condensing boilers with an integrated cylinder from the ecoCOMPACT and auroCOMPACT ranges. It includes a high-efficiency circulation pump together with a low-loss header (hydraulic separator) and related connection accessories, which together provide hydraulic separation of the boiler circuit from one direct (unmixed) heating circuit in the system. The set is fitted directly inside the boiler casing, meaning it does not take up any additional space in the boiler room in the form of an external manifold or hydraulic module.

The designation "L10" is based on the modular logic Vaillant uses for hydraulic accessories for ecoCOMPACT and auroCOMPACT – the L10 set represents the basic, first level with one direct heating circuit, which can be followed up, depending on the needs of a specific installation, with another set (L11 for a second, mixing circuit, or L20 for a second direct circuit), allowing a system with two independently controllable heating circuits to be hydraulically served from a single boiler body.

Technical characteristics

  • Intended for: Vaillant ecoCOMPACT (VSC, VCC) and auroCOMPACT (VSC D)
  • Function: hydraulic separation of the boiler circuit from the system's first direct (unmixed) heating circuit
  • Main components: high-efficiency, electronically controlled class A circulation pump, low-loss header (hydraulic separator), connection fittings and mounting material
  • Pump control: stepless speed adjustment according to the current circuit demand, controlled by the boiler's control system
  • Installation: directly inside the boiler casing, without the need for an external manifold or hydraulic module outside the boiler
  • Combinability: basic set for the first heating circuit; combined with the additional L11 set (mixing circuit) or L20 (second direct circuit), it allows two heating circuits to be served from one boiler
  • Max. operating temperature: up to 110 °C
  • Fitting material: brass/steel depending on the specific component, resistant to typical heating water parameters

Why this set is a practical solution

ecoCOMPACT and auroCOMPACT boilers are designed so that most of the hydraulic accessories needed for a typical system connection can be built directly into the boiler casing instead of installing a separate external manifold or hydraulic module next to the boiler. The L10 set is the first and basic step of this modular concept – it provides the low-loss header (hydraulic separation of the boiler circuit from the system) and a pump for one direct heating circuit, which covers the needs of simpler systems with one heating circuit (for example, a radiator system without mixing, or underfloor heating with its own separate mixing station outside the boiler).

For systems with several heating circuits requiring different water temperatures (for example, a combination of radiators and underfloor heating in one building), the L10 set forms the basis to which the additional L11 or L20 set is subsequently added, depending on whether the second circuit requires mixing (a lower, separately controlled temperature) or is again direct.

Installation

The set must be installed exclusively by an authorised technician qualified to install gas and heating equipment, in accordance with the manufacturer's installation instructions and the designed hydraulic scheme of the system. The set is built into the boiler casing at the location designated by the manufacturer, the pump and low-loss header are connected to the heating distribution of the first circuit, and finally the parameters of that circuit (for example the maximum temperature, or a weather-compensation curve if the circuit is controlled according to outdoor temperature) are set in the boiler control.

If a combination with another circuit (set L11 or L20) is planned, we recommend considering and ordering both sets together already during the first installation of the boiler, as adding the second set after years of operation is technically possible but usually requires a longer system shutdown than if both sets were installed at once.

Compatibility

The L10 set is intended for Vaillant stationary condensing boilers with an integrated cylinder from the ecoCOMPACT (VSC, VCC) and auroCOMPACT (VSC D) ranges. It can be combined with the additional L11 set (for a second, mixing circuit) and L20 (for a second direct circuit) within the same modular accessory family. The set is not interchangeable with hydraulic accessories intended for other Vaillant boiler ranges (for example wall-mounted ecoTEC plus or stationary ecoVIT), which have a different design and method of integrating hydraulic components.

When ordering, we therefore always recommend specifying the exact boiler model the set is to be fitted to.

Maintenance and care

As part of the regular annual boiler service inspection, we recommend also checking the components of this set:

  • smooth running and noise level of the pump,
  • tightness of the connection fittings between the low-loss header and the heating distribution,
  • functionality of the electronic pump speed control in relation to the circuit's demands,
  • overall condition and any deposits in the pump's circulation section during professional disassembly at service.

The electronically controlled class A pump requires no lubrication or other manual maintenance during normal operation; however, the quality of the heating water in the system is important and should comply with the recommendations of the VDI 2035 guideline.

We recommend including this check in the regular scope of the annual boiler service inspection, so that any pump wear or connection leaks are detected early, before they could affect heating comfort in the given circuit.

Why choose an original Vaillant part

The L10 set is designed specifically to fit inside the casing of ecoCOMPACT and auroCOMPACT boilers without the need for additional modifications or an external manifold, which simplifies installation and saves space in the boiler room. An original part also guarantees proper cooperation with the boiler's control electronics, which regulate the pump speed according to the current demand of the circuit. Using a non-original or universal pump would require a separate external manifold and would lose the advantage of a compact installation directly inside the boiler.

Modular concept of the L10, L11 and L20 hydraulic sets

Vaillant has designed the hydraulic accessories for ecoCOMPACT and auroCOMPACT as a modular system of three mutually combinable sets, which covers the most common hydraulic configurations of family houses and smaller buildings without the need to individually design an external manifold:

  • L10 – basic set, high-efficiency pump with low-loss header for one direct heating circuit, can be installed on its own or as a basis for further expansion,
  • L11 – additional set, high-efficiency pump with a three-way mixing valve and actuator, installed together with L10 and used for a second, mixing (controlled) circuit, for example for underfloor heating with a lower temperature than a direct radiator circuit,
  • L20 – additional set, high-efficiency pump with hydraulic accessories, installed together with L10 and used for a second direct (unmixed) circuit, for example for a separate heating branch with the same temperature as the first circuit.

This concept allows the designer to choose exactly the combination that matches the actual needs of a specific building – a simple system with one circuit only needs the L10 set alone, while a system combining, for example, radiators (direct circuit) and underfloor heating (mixing circuit) requires a combination of L10 + L11.

Typical usage scenarios

In practice, the L10 set alone, without the additional L11 or L20, is most often chosen for simpler family houses with one type of heating emitter (for example only radiators, or only underfloor heating with its own external mixing station outside the boiler). Conversely, for buildings combining several types of heating emitters or with separate zones requiring different heating water temperatures (typically a ground floor with underfloor heating and an upper floor with radiators), L10 is combined with L11 or L20 already during the first installation of the boiler, to avoid a more complicated additional installation later.

When deciding between the individual combinations, we always recommend basing the choice on the specific heating design of the building in question, as changing the chosen hydraulic solution after installation is technically more demanding than making the right choice from the start.

Frequently asked questions

What exactly does the designation L10 mean compared to L11 and L20?

L10 is the basic set for the first, direct (unmixed) heating circuit. L11 adds a second, mixing circuit with a three-way valve and actuator to the system, while L20 adds a second direct circuit without mixing. Both L11 and L20 are always installed together with the L10 set, not on their own.

Is the L10 set sufficient for a system with one heating circuit?

Yes, for a system with one direct heating circuit (for example a simple radiator system), the L10 set is a sufficient solution and no additional sets need to be purchased with it.

Can the L10 set be fitted later to an already installed boiler?

Technically yes, but a later installation requires the system to be shut down and intervention in the boiler casing. For a planned installation, we therefore recommend considering the required number of circuits in advance and ordering the relevant sets together with the boiler.

Is an external manifold needed in addition to this set?

No, the main advantage of this set is precisely that the pump and low-loss header are built directly into the boiler casing, which eliminates the need for a separate external hydraulic manifold for one direct circuit.

Can I install the set myself?

No, installation requires intervention in the boiler casing and professional qualification to install gas and heating equipment, so it may only be carried out by an authorised service technician.

Does the electronically controlled pump in this set save energy?

Yes, the class A pump continuously adjusts its speed according to the current demand of the circuit instead of running at constant speed, bringing energy savings compared to older, uncontrolled pumps.

Is the set suitable for underfloor heating as well?

The L10 set handles a direct (unmixed) circuit. Underfloor heating usually requires a lower, controlled temperature, so when combined with a radiator circuit it is usually handled as a second, mixing circuit using the additional L11 set, or with a separate external mixing station outside the boiler.

What warranty applies to this set?

Original Vaillant accessories are covered by a standard 24-month warranty from the date of sale, or from commissioning by an authorised service technician.

How do I find out whether my specific project needs only L10, or also L11/L20?

The decisive factor is the number and type of heating circuits in the heating system design. We recommend consulting this choice with a heating designer or supplier, who will determine, based on the hydraulic scheme of the building, how many circuits and of what type (direct or mixing) the system requires.

Does this set also affect domestic hot water preparation in the boiler's integrated cylinder?

No, the L10 set only handles the hydraulics of the heating circuit. Domestic hot water preparation in the integrated cylinder of ecoCOMPACT/auroCOMPACT boilers is handled separately, structurally independent of this hydraulic set.

Can a third heating circuit be added later?

The modular L10/L11/L20 concept built directly into the boiler casing covers a maximum of two heating circuits. If a third or further circuit is needed, the solution must be designed with an external hydraulic manifold outside the boiler, which we recommend discussing with a heating system designer already at the design stage.

How does the L10 set differ from a regular external circulation pump?

The main difference lies in being built directly into the boiler casing and in the included low-loss header (hydraulic separator), which provides hydraulic separation of the boiler and system circuits – a regular external circulation pump would not provide this low-loss header function and would require a separate external manifold.
