The self-adhesive tape is made of a polyester filtration backing layer, which has undergone several years of development and is modified to guarantee long-term fungicidal properties and maximum water drainage. It is used to close the cavities of polycarbonate sheets. Thanks to its strong adhesive, the tape is sufficiently resistant to damage, even in outdoor environments. The tape also adapts well to most PC sheets during thermal stress or their linear thermal expansion. This is the solid variant of the tape.

Selection and Installation

When purchasing the tape, you need to consider what width of tape you will need. Of course, it is better to have a tape that is half a centimeter too wide than 1 mm too narrow. Below are general recommendations for choosing the tape according to the thickness of the polycarbonate sheet.

• Polycarbonate 4 mm - tape width 28 mm
• Polycarbonate 6 mm - tape width 28-38 mm
• Polycarbonate 8-10 mm - tape width 38-60 mm

During application, the surface of the sheet must be dry and free of grease. The tape, which is coated with adhesive on one side, is then applied. Another advantage of the ventilation tape is that it is very easy to recognize where renewal will be needed over time.

Even the correct use of mounting tapes cannot prevent possible condensation forming in the sheet cavities. Polycarbonate allows water vapor to pass through the sheet walls into the cavities and vice versa. This is a natural physical phenomenon caused by the difference in air humidity and temperature concentration between the interior and exterior. Once conditions stabilize, the condensation disappears again.

The tape is made of durable polypropylene non-woven fabric. It is treated in a way that guarantees medium-term resistance to aging. The tape is coated with a high-quality synthetic pressure-sensitive adhesive specifically designed for this type of application. The adhesive is applied over the entire surface in a pattern imitating tape perforations.
