BMV 712 Smart Battery Monitor
Code: TI_04280341Product detailed description
The BMV-712 Smart monitor is a model with high-precision monitoring of the state of two independent batteries with integrated Bluetooth technology.
Why monitor battery operating conditions? For its longer service life! Detailed battery monitoring allows us to eliminate potential operational deficiencies while ensuring quick correction to support long battery life.
Suitable for all types of lead-acid batteries, including AGM and gel batteries. Easy setting of battery capacity (factory setting 200 Ah). Auto-detection of voltage 12, 24, 36, 48, 60, 120, 144 and 288 V. Regular automatic calibration of the device for reliable reporting of measured data (can also be performed manually). The BMV 700H version is designed for systems with high operating voltage (70 - 350 V DC), the BMV702 version is designed for monitoring two batteries or monitoring temperature or battery xxx. The monitor is also suitable for Li-ion batteries.
Product parameters:
- current battery voltage (V)
- current (A) flowing into (positive values - charging) or out of (negative values - discharging) the battery
- current power (W) flowing into (positive values - charging) or out of (negative values - discharging) the battery (product of voltage and current)
- total amount of energy drawn from the battery to power appliances in amp-hours (Ah)
- current state of charge of the battery in percent
- estimated (sophisticatedly calculated) time in hours until 50% discharge of the battery at the given power consumption
Technical parameters:
- supply voltage 6.5 - 95 V DC
- power consumption with unlit display and relay off: 4 mA (12 V) and 3 mA (24 V)
- power consumption with unlit display and relay on: 15 mA (12 V) and 8 mA (24 V)
- operating voltage: 12, 24 and 48 V (auto-detection)
- maximum current through the shunt: -500 to +500 A (battery discharging and charging)
- maximum deviation in voltage reading ±0.01 A at voltage 0 – 100 V
- maximum deviation in current reading ±0.01 A with a 500 A shunt

- maximum deviation in state of charge reading ±0.1%
- maximum deviation in remaining time estimate ±1 hour (in the range of 1-240 hours)
- maximum deviation in power reading ±1 W in the range from -100 W to 1 kW
- for total battery capacity 20 - 9999 Ah
- operating temperature range -20 to +50 °C
- round diameter of the monitor unit itself: 63 mm
- square size of the monitor unit's housing: 69 x 69 mm
- depth of the monitor unit itself: 31 mm
- switched relay: 60V/1A maximum
- weight of the monitor unit itself: 70 g
- weight of the shunt: 315 g
- shunt connection bolts: M10
- material: plastic
The monitor stores selected historical data and reached limit values:
- deepest discharge reached by the battery
- level of the last battery discharge
- number of completed charging/discharging cycles of the battery
- average battery discharge value
- number of full battery discharges
- maximum voltage reached by the battery
- minimum voltage reached by the battery
- number of days since the last full battery charge
The BMV-700 monitor includes:
- the monitor unit itself with a backlit digital display and controls
- plastic cover of the monitor, dimensions 69 x 69 mm
- 500A/50mV shunt designed for a maximum current of 500 A (install on the negative cable)
- 10-meter long communication and power UTP cable RJ12 (connecting the monitor unit with the shunt)
- 2-meter long installation cable with a fuse for connection to the positive cable.
The monitor performs sophisticated monitoring of supplied and drawn energy, taking into account adjustable values of the Peukert exponent (the higher the power consumption, the more the amount of available energy in the batteries decreases, and vice versa) and the battery for estimating the current amount of energy (Ah) and the state of charge of the battery (in percent). For the correct display of the amount of available energy in the battery, it is necessary that all energy leaving and entering the battery passes through the shunt.
The monitor unit can be recessed into a wall without the need for rear access (concealed screws).
For higher currents than 500 A, a replacement shunt designed for currents of 1000 and 2000 A can be added. Shunts up to a maximum current of 9,999 A with a voltage range of 1 - 100 mV can be used with the monitor (both adjustable).
The monitor has a switched relay. This is activated/deactivated based on the measured state of charge of the battery. It is factory set to switch on when the battery's state of charge drops below 50% and switch off when the state of charge reaches 90%. These values can be changed in the settings. It is also possible to reverse the switching logic, i.e. normally off, non-standard off. The relay can be used to switch devices on/off, such as an external alarm, generator, etc.
The monitor can be connected to other devices. Possibility of connecting monitors with the large color Color Control GX display. To connect the BMV700 monitor with the Color Control GX display, you need to purchase either a VE.Direct cable or a VE.Direct-USB communication interface.
Saved settings and recorded historical and limit data remain stored even if the monitor's power supply is interrupted. Visual and acoustic alarm in case of over- or under-voltage, when the battery is fully charged or discharged. Possibility to switch an additional power source, such as a generator, via the relay under defined conditions.
