Product detailed description

Electric combined storage water heater HAKL BXL 120v with tubular heat exchanger

Electric water heaters HAKL BX with an extra large tubular heat exchanger belong to the product range consisting of pressure storage tanks with a steel container and a tubular heat exchanger. Long tank life is guaranteed by a double layer of titanium enamel and a built-in anode rod. The additional designation „V/L(P) “  means a vertical design with a tubular heat exchanger with outlets for left or right connection.

The heater's connection outlets for domestic hot water are located on the bottom side of the casing. Trouble-free installation into heating systems is also ensured by the option of connecting an external sensor. The output of the heating coil is designed so as not to overload the electrical network, while still allowing rapid heating of the water in the tank. A factory-fitted thermal fuse ensures a higher degree of protection of the coil against overheating  in critical situations. The required water temperature in the tank can be set, after removing the bottom cover, using the thermostat. The frost-protection function  prevents the water in the heater from freezing and thus damaging the tank.

Titanium intensive smalt

To achieve maximum protection of the tank against corrosion, the water heater of the HAKL BDv model range uses the effective "TITANIUM intensive smalt" technology. The applied double layer of special glass-titanium enamel achieves above-standard resistance quality, which significantly  extends the life of the steel tank and also meets the strict criteria of the ROHS hygiene directive.

Main advantages of HAKL BX:

  • extra large tubular heating exchanger surface
  • input for external thermal sensor
  • anode rod extending the life of the tank
  • adjustable thermostat under the bottom cover of the heater
  • exchanger outlets with left or right connection
  • thermal fuse preventing overheating of the heating coil
  • housing for external sensor included in the package
  • excellent thermal-insulation properties of the tank without the use of CFC and HCFC

Frequently asked questions

  • What output of instantaneous heater should I choose? A higher electrical output allows a higher hot water flow rate to be achieved for a given temperature rise (the difference between the cold water temperature and the required hot water temperature) - e.g. an 18-21 kW heater is usually enough for one shower, an output of 24-27 kW can more comfortably handle a slightly higher flow rate or colder inlet water in winter.
  • Can my electrical installation handle this output? Heaters with an output above approx. 11 kW usually require a three-phase 400 V connection and a correspondingly sized circuit breaker (commonly 3x 25 A or more for higher outputs) - before purchasing, we recommend checking the capacity of the home electrical installation, ideally with an electrician.
  • Can I install this heater myself? The connection to the water pipes itself is not unmanageable from a professional point of view, but the connection to the electrical network (especially for outputs above 3,5 kW, which is usually a fixed connection, not a socket) must be carried out by a person with electrical qualifications.
  • What is the difference between a pressure and a pressure-free (open flow) design? A pressure heater is connected to a normal pressurised water system and can supply more than one outlet point in the flat/house at the same time via the piping. A pressure-free (open) heater works with only one outlet point specifically intended for it and a special pressure-free (three-way) faucet - these two systems cannot be combined with each other or have their accessories swapped.
  • How long does it take before hot water starts flowing? With instantaneous heating, the water is heated continuously as it flows through the heater - hot water is thus available practically immediately after opening the tap (after the cold water has been pushed out of the pipe), unlike storage heaters, there is no need to wait for a larger volume of water to be pre-heated.
