1. Resin disinfection - The disinfection unit is connected directly via the control head, creating the option to disinfect the resin fill (can be ordered additionally). This disinfection unit uses free chlorine generated from the salt solution to disinfect the softening material during each regeneration. This process is a standard in several European countries.
2. Bypass valve - It is possible to additionally order a bypass valve, which allows the device to be disconnected from the water system. This part can be useful in cases when the device needs to be moved, for example when replacing the cation resin, painting the walls behind the device, and similar situations.

How the HydroSoft COMFORT water softener works

The softening capacity of the device is calculated based on water hardness; in this case, for example, at a water hardness of 20 °dH, the device capacity is 4.5 cubic meters of water, which means the device starts regenerating the softening filling (cation resin) after softening 4.5 cubic meters of water.

Water softening - Ion exchange

When softening water, the resin (cation resin) removes calcium and magnesium ions from the water and replaces them with sodium ions. During regeneration, exactly the opposite effect occurs - the resin releases calcium and magnesium ions and is refilled with sodium.

Regeneration

Regeneration takes place with a salt solution completely automatically using the control head. Salt must always be topped up in the salt compartment. This compartment can be filled completely; a certain amount of the salt then always dissolves in the water, which is then drawn into the resin, causing the ion exchange to take place.
