How Water Softening Works - Ion Exchange
During water softening, the resin removes calcium and magnesium ions from the water and replaces them with sodium ions. During regeneration, the exact opposite effect takes place - the resin releases the calcium and magnesium ions and is refilled with sodium.
Tested and Approved for Contact with Drinking Water
The HydroSoft® water softener has been tested and evaluated in an authorized laboratory, and based on the documented results of leaching test analyses and applicable legislation, it clearly meets the requirements for products intended for contact with drinking water in accordance with regulations on hygiene requirements for products coming into contact with drinking water and for water treatment.

We Recommend
- Before the water softener, we recommend installing a mechanical pre-filter, which will prevent the ingress of floating impurities (sand, rust, clay, etc.) that could damage the mechanical parts of the softening device.
- To select the correct size, you need to know the water hardness value, the peak hourly and average monthly water consumption, and last but not least, also take into account other values such as iron, manganese, ammonia and organic water contamination. For this, it is necessary to have, or if you don't, to perform a water analysis.
If you would like help determining the correct size, do not hesitate to contact us.
For Well Owners
Using cation exchange resin (a water softener) has many advantages for treating hard water, i.e. water with a high content of calcium and magnesium. However, when water softening is applied to sources such as well water, several problems need to be addressed, especially if dissolved iron or manganese is present in the water.
First, the use of ion-exchange resins is recommended only for removing small amounts of iron and manganese. If iron or manganese oxidizes before reaching the softening device
