Vaillant izolácia pripojovacieho potrubia pre PHE C
Code: 0020248930Product detailed description
Vaillant insulation for connecting pipework for PHE C
Vaillant plate heat exchangers of the PHE S and PHE C series are among the key components of large professional boiler rooms, cascade configurations of condensing boilers and industrial heating hubs. Their role is to hydraulically and thermally separate the primary circuit (heat source – boiler, boiler cascade, heat pump) from the secondary circuit (distribution system, underfloor heating, radiator circuits, domestic hot water heating), with heat being transferred between the circuits exclusively via a set of stainless steel plates – without direct mixing of the media. In practice this principle is used wherever it is necessary to prevent mutual hydraulic interference between circulation pumps of individual circuits, to balance different flow rates, or to separate circuits with different quality, pressure or composition of the heat-transfer medium (e.g. glycol mixtures in a solar or heat pump circuit from ordinary heating water in the distribution system).
This thermal insulation complements the genuine Vaillant connecting pipework of the PHE C series – both the DN65 variant (code 0020107886, for models PHE C 240-40 and 360-70, output up to 360 kW), and the DN100 variant (code 0020107887, for models PHE C 480-90, 600-120 and 720-170, output above 360 kW). While the thermal insulation of the exchanger itself (available separately for each model of the PHE C series) protects the exchanger body, this insulation covers the adjacent section of the connecting pipework including the flange joint and side ports for additional fittings – together they form a completely insulated assembly without thermal bridges between individual components.

Why insulate the connecting pipework, not just the exchanger body
The flanged connecting pipework between the PHE C exchanger and the main boiler room distribution carries the same hot medium as the exchanger itself, and its surface reaches comparable temperatures during operation. Without insulation, this uncovered section of pipework remains a source of heat loss and a burn hazard just as an uninsulated exchanger body would be – the only difference is the shape and position of this section within the assembly. Complete insulation of the whole assembly (exchanger and connecting pipework) therefore represents a comprehensive and consistent solution, not a partial measure that would leave part of the hot surface unprotected.
Installation
- The insulation is fitted only after the installation, connection and leak-tightness testing of the entire connecting assembly, including the side fittings, has been completed.
- The shaped cover is closed around the connecting pipework including the flange joint, while leaving free access to the side ports with the air vent valve, drain cock and any sensors.
- Before the final commissioning of the assembly, it is recommended to visually verify that the insulation does not obstruct the operation of any fitting that is used regularly during operation.
Service, cleaning and care
If signs of limescale or dirt build-up appear (typical with hard or contaminated water), the exchanger is cleaned as follows: the system is taken out of operation, the exchanger is drained and removed. Only cleaning agents suitable for stainless steel and copper may be used for cleaning – unsuitable cleaning agents can permanently damage the exchanger. Flushing with the cleaning solution is carried out against the normal direction of flow, after which the exchanger is flushed with clean water, reinstalled, and it is recommended to check the water hardness before restarting. In case of high water hardness, treatment of the heating water is recommended according to the documentation of the other system components – atria.sk offers in the category chemical and physical water treatment for this purpose e.g. corrosion inhibitors and cleaning products of the SENTINEL and ULTIMA ranges, which extend the service life of the exchanger and the whole boiler room.
In case of temporary shutdown (repair, service, longer outage), it is recommended to completely drain and clean the exchanger to prevent damage from freezing, aggressive media or biological fouling. When permanently taking the exchanger out of operation, the primary circuit is closed first, then the secondary circuit, followed by draining and disassembly.
Typical usage scenario
In a professional boiler room with a PHE C exchanger, it is common practice to order the whole assembly at once – the exchanger itself, its corresponding floor bracket (included with the exchanger package), the connecting pipework of the appropriate diameter (DN65 or DN100 depending on output), and finally both thermal insulations: the insulation of the exchanger body and the insulation of this connecting pipework. The investor or designer thus plans from the start for a completely insulated assembly that fully meets the manufacturer's safety recommendations, not only on the most visible part (the exchanger itself), but also on the adjacent pipework, which is equally accessible to touch by operating staff during a normal visual inspection of the boiler room as the exchanger body.
Why this part of the assembly is often overlooked
When planning and implementing boiler rooms, attention logically focuses primarily on the main components – boilers, exchangers, pumps and controls. Smaller supplementary parts, such as insulation of the connecting pipework, sometimes do not make it into the budget or implementation documentation, although from the point of view of operator safety and heat losses they are just as important a part of the assembly as the insulation of the exchanger itself. This is precisely why we recommend including this part in the order together with the connecting pipework and exchanger insulation right from the first contact with the supplier, not only afterwards once the missing insulation is discovered during commissioning or an operational inspection.
Relation to the overall energy balance of the boiler room
Although the surface area of a single connecting pipe is smaller than the surface area of the exchanger body itself, when summed across all connection points of a cascade (multiple exchangers, multiple connecting pipes), this can represent a non-negligible share of the total heat losses from uninsulated surfaces in the plant room. On projects where distribution pipework and fittings throughout the entire boiler room are consistently insulated, insulating the exchanger's connecting pipework therefore logically fits into the same concept of comprehensive thermal insulation of the technological unit.
Compatibility and related accessories
We recommend combining this insulation with the genuine thermal insulation of the specific exchanger model (codes 0020248923 to 0020248927 depending on the PHE C model), as well as with the connecting pipework itself, DN65 or DN100 (codes 0020107886 / 0020107887) – all available separately in this category on atria.sk. Together these parts form a complete, thermally and safety-wise closed assembly for professional boiler rooms with PHE C series exchangers.
Why choose genuine Vaillant insulation for the connecting pipework
- Completes the assembly – covers exactly the part of the system not covered by the exchanger's own insulation.
- Maintains access to fittings – the shaped cover leaves the side ports needed for regular operation free.
- Increases both safety and energy efficiency of the entire connecting assembly, not just the exchanger body.
- Genuine Vaillant part with guaranteed shape compatibility with both the DN65 and DN100 connecting pipework.
Summary
Although it appears to be a small, simple supplementary part without its own product photo in the manufacturer's price list, its functional importance in the overall safety and energy balance of the boiler room is comparable to the other insulations in this range. We recommend including it in every order that includes DN65 or DN100 connecting pipework of the PHE C series, so that the resulting assembly fully meets the manufacturer's recommendations – from the exchanger body to the last metre of connecting pipework before the main boiler room distribution.
As with all parts in this category, genuine Vaillant accessories guarantee exact shape and functional compatibility with the other components of the assembly, which cannot always be guaranteed with improvised or universal solutions from the general market. For designers and installation companies, this means simpler material specification as well as faster and more predictable ordering of complete assemblies across the entire PHE C series without having to combine parts from multiple suppliers.
Frequently asked questions
Which connecting pipework is this insulation intended for?
This thermal insulation is intended for genuine Vaillant connecting pipework of the PHE C series – both for the DN65 variant (code 0020107886, models PHE C 240-40 and 360-70), and for the DN100 variant (code 0020107887, models PHE C 480-90, 600-120 and 720-170).
Why is there no photo available for this part?
This is a smaller supplementary part for which the manufacturer does not provide a separate illustration in its official accessories price list (marked in the original as "no illustration") – functionally and technically, however, the part is a fully-fledged member of the PHE C accessory range, just like the items that do have a photo.
Is this insulation necessary if the exchanger itself is already insulated?
The exchanger body insulation and the connecting pipework insulation cover different sections of the assembly – the exchanger body and the adjacent pipework with the flange connection and side fittings. For a truly comprehensive reduction of heat losses and the risk of contact with a hot surface across the whole assembly, it is recommended to use both parts together.
How is this insulation installed?
Just like the insulation of the exchanger itself, this is a shaped, detachable cover that is fitted onto the already assembled and tested connecting pipework and closed around it so as to cover the entire section of pipework including the flange, while still leaving access to the side ports and fittings that require regular operation (venting, draining).
Is this insulation also suitable for pipework from other manufacturers, not just Vaillant?
The part is dimensionally designed exactly for the genuine Vaillant DN65/DN100 connecting pipework described above, and we do not recommend using it on pipework parts of other manufacturers or dimensions, as correct shape compatibility and full coverage of hot surfaces cannot be guaranteed.
When is the best time to order this part?
We recommend ordering it together with the connecting pipework and the exchanger insulation already with the first order for the assembly, in order to avoid additional purchasing and installation after the boiler room has been completed and tested, when access to the pipework is usually more limited.
Does this insulation affect the warranty on the connecting pipework or the exchanger?
No, this is a separate accessory that has no effect on the warranty conditions of the other parts of the assembly. Its use is nevertheless recommended for the safety and energy-related reasons described above.
Is this part supplied together with the connecting pipework automatically?
No, this is a separate item in the accessories catalogue that must be ordered separately alongside the connecting pipework itself (DN65 or DN100) and alongside the insulation of the corresponding exchanger model.
