Frequently asked questions

• How do I choose the right fitting size? The thread size (e.g. 1/2", 3/4", 1") must exactly match the thread size on the pipe or fixture you are connecting the fitting to - designations such as FF (female-female), MF (male-female) and similar abbreviations in the name indicate the thread type on each side of the fitting.
• What do the abbreviations FF and MF in the name mean? F (female, internal thread) and M (male, external thread) indicate the thread type on that side of the fitting - for example "FF" means an internal thread on both sides, while "MF" means an external thread on one side and an internal thread on the other.
• Do I need to use a sealing material during installation? Yes, sealing material (e.g. PTFE tape or hemp fibre with sealing paste) is normally used on threaded joints to ensure a perfectly tight connection - the thread alone without sealing will not reliably seal.
• Does the installation have to be carried out by a professional? A simple threaded connection can be handled by a competent DIYer, but when working on an already functioning system (especially a gas line or a pressurised water/heating system) we recommend calling in a plumber, who can also verify the tightness of the joint after installation.
