It is a single-wall plastic pipe made of durable polypropylene (PP), which, thanks to the low flue gas temperature of condensing technology (typically up to approx. 80 °C), is a fully adequate and more cost-effective alternative to metal stainless steel flue pipes used with older atmospheric or low-efficiency heat sources. This particular variant, packed as 1 piece, is intended primarily for purchasing a single unit - for example for a minor repair, to replace a missing bracket after reconstruction of the route, or when an installation company needs to calculate the exact number of holders for a specific job without unnecessarily oversizing the order.

Why large ecoCRAFT boilers have a larger flue pipe diameter than residential boilers

Vaillant flue systems are supplied in several nominal diameters depending on the output and type of the connected heat source. Residential wall-mounted condensing boilers ecoTEC plus commonly use concentric or single-wall systems with a diameter of 60/100 mm, 80/125 mm or 110/160 mm, since their output is in the order of a few to lower tens of kW. In contrast, large-capacity condensing boilers of the ecoCRAFT exclusiv series, which are used in apartment buildings, industrial buildings, hotels, wellness centres or for district heating, reach outputs in the order of tens to hundreds of kW - therefore they need a significantly larger cross-section of the flue route so that the flue gases can leave at an appropriately low flow velocity and low pressure resistance.

This is exactly the purpose of the accessory range with a nominal diameter of DN 200 PP, of which this distance holder is a part. If the route diameter were undersized, the flow resistance of the flue gases would increase, which could result in reduced combustion efficiency, noisier operation of the boiler fan, or in extreme cases even a safety shutdown of the boiler by the safety automation. Conversely, a correctly designed and installed DN 200 PP system with properly spaced distance holders ensures quiet, reliable and long-term maintenance-free operation of the entire flue gas route.

When designing the route, it is therefore important not to combine parts of different nominal diameters without a suitable reducing element, and to always follow the flue gas route design documentation prepared for the specific model and output of the ecoCRAFT exclusiv boiler, or for the given cascade system.

Equally important as the diameter itself is the material classification according to the temperature and pressure class of the flue gas route (for example according to the EN 1443 and EN 14471 series of standards for plastic and composite systems). The single-wall polypropylene pipe DN 200 PP is designed for operation in wet mode (condensing operation) at flue gas temperatures corresponding to modern condensing technology and under slightly negative or positive pressure operation depending on the specific connection of the boiler fan. This is precisely why such emphasis is placed on the quality and originality of all components in these systems, including seemingly inconspicuous parts such as distance holders - their role is not just the aesthetic fixing of the pipe, but the preservation of the certified composition of the entire flue gas route as a functional unit that has undergone joint approval by the boiler manufacturer.

Maintenance, service and inspection

The distance holder itself does not require any regular maintenance - it is a passive supporting and fixing element without moving parts. However, during the regular annual inspection of the flue gas route (carried out by a chimney sweep or service technician), it is recommended to visually check whether the holder is not loose, corroded at the point of anchoring to the wall, or mechanically damaged during construction work in its vicinity. A loose or damaged holder must be replaced immediately, as it carries the weight of the entire flue pipe route above it, and its failure could cause the pipe to sag or the joints to leak.
