Detailed information

Product detailed description

Vaillant flue extension 1.0 m, Ø 110 mm (shaft system)

This single-wall pipe with a length of 1.0 m is designed for the so-called shaft system of flue gas discharge, where flue gases are routed through a single Ø 110 mm pipe placed in an existing vertical building shaft or chimney, while combustion air for the boiler is drawn in through the free annular space between the pipe and the shaft walls. Unlike the concentric Ø 110/160 mm system (where a single coaxial pipe carries both air and flue gases), here the combustion air flows outside the pipe itself, directly in the shaft space – which is why this component is used exclusively in combination with an air-tightly sealed shaft with an external air supply at its lower or upper part, according to the project design.

This component is combined with other lengths (0.5 m and 1.0 m) and directional elements to achieve the exact length of the vertical route in the shaft, while transition and support components for connecting to the boiler or to the shaft outlet are fitted at the top and bottom of the assembly.

Vaillant Ø 110 mm shaft system (LAS)

The single-wall Ø 110 mm pipe is designed for the so-called shaft system of flue gas discharge (also commonly referred to by the abbreviation LAS – air-flue gas system through a shaft), in which flue gases are removed through a single pipe placed in an existing masonry or prefabricated shaft/chimney, while combustion air for the boiler is drawn in through the free annular space between this pipe and the shaft walls. This type of connection is mainly used for larger Vaillant gas condensing boilers (higher-output ecoTEC plus, ecoCRAFT exclusiv, ecoVIT exclusiv) installed in apartment buildings, boiler rooms and plant rooms, where a vertical building shaft is available and it is not desirable to run a separate concentric system through the facade.

The pipe is made of polypropylene (PP) with high resistance to condensate and acidic flue gas components (class W according to EN 14471), temperature class T120, pressure class P1. The joints use a locking socket system with a rubber seal, which guarantees reliable gas-tightness for vertical or slightly inclined routing in the shaft. Since the system operates in both negative and positive pressure modes depending on the boiler type, every component must be from the certified Vaillant range – combining it with non-original parts from other manufacturers is not permitted and violates the CE certification conditions of the entire assembly as well as the boiler warranty.

Comparison of systems with and without an existing shaft

In addition to concentric (double-wall) Ø 60/100, 80/125 and 110/160 mm systems, Vaillant also offers a single-wall Ø 110 mm solution for shaft (LAS) installation, which this component belongs to. While concentric systems carry both flue gases and combustion air through a single coaxial pipe and are particularly suitable where the route runs through a facade or open space without an existing shaft, the single-wall shaft system uses an existing building shaft as a natural air duct around the flue gas pipe. The choice between the two approaches depends on the layout of the specific building – in renovations with an available original chimney shaft, the shaft system is usually structurally simpler and cheaper, while for new buildings without such a shaft, the concentric system is almost always chosen.

Compatibility

The 1.0 m extension Ø 110 mm belongs to the same shaft (LAS) system range as the 0.5 m variant and is used with the same boiler models – higher-output ecoTEC plus, ecoCRAFT exclusiv and ecoVIT exclusiv. By combining 0.5 m and 1.0 m components, any required height of the vertical route in the building shaft can be achieved.

Typical use cases

The 1.0 m length is the basic building block for installing longer vertical routes in shafts of multi-storey apartment buildings, where several floors need to be spanned. By combining several 1.0 m pieces (possibly supplemented with a 0.5 m component for fine adjustment), the exact total height of the route up to the shaft outlet can be achieved.

How to choose between the shaft and concentric systems

Choose the Ø 110 mm shaft system (this component) when the building has a suitable existing vertical building shaft with a defined combustion air supply – typically in renovations of apartment buildings with an original chimney structure. If no such shaft is available, or the route needs to run through the facade, the choice is the Ø 110/160 mm concentric system, where a single pipe carries both flue gases and combustion air without requiring an existing shaft.

Installation and use

The 1.0 m extension is inserted into the vertical route in the shaft using the same bayonet lock with seal as in the concentric system. During installation, it is necessary to:

  • verify that the shaft meets the requirements for combustion air supply (free, unobstructed space, sufficient cross-section around the pipe, air-tight separation from other building spaces according to the project design),
  • stabilize the pipe continuously in the shaft using spacer holders or clamps so that a free cross-section for air flow is maintained around the entire circumference,
  • maintain the minimum slope towards the boiler for condensate drainage,
  • before commissioning, check the tightness and functionality of the air supply through the shaft according to the installation manual for the specific boiler model,
  • maintain access to the inspection elements of the assembly (inspection T-bend, inspection piece) at the bottom of the shaft for regular chimney sweep inspections.

Safety notices

Installation of the shaft (LAS) flue gas discharge system requires, in addition to a qualified installation company, a prior assessment of the structural condition and suitability of the shaft by an authorized technician – an incorrectly sized or leaky combustion air supply through the shaft can jeopardize the safe operation of the boiler. Use only original Vaillant components of the corresponding diameter; combining them with non-original parts or unauthorized modification (such as cutting the pipe) is not permitted and violates the certification of the entire assembly as well as the boiler warranty. After installation or any intervention in the route, a check of the tightness and functionality of the air supply is required before putting the boiler into operation.

Maintenance and care

We recommend having the flue system checked at least once a year during regular boiler servicing – especially the tightness of the joints, the patency of the condensate drainage (if part of the assembly) and the mechanical fastening along the whole route. Outdoor plastic parts (roof terminals, wall sleeves) should be visually inspected after the winter season for possible mechanical damage caused by ice or wind. Under normal operation, the inside of the pipes does not become fouled with deposits the way traditional solid-fuel chimneys do, but the inspection elements in the assembly (inspection bends, inspection pieces, T-pieces) allow a service technician to easily look inside the pipe during inspection and clean it if necessary without having to dismantle the entire route.

For boilers with a longer flue route, we recommend keeping a simple service record of the date of the last tightness check and the condition of the inspection openings – this makes it easier to plan further chimney sweep inspections and provides an overview in case of a warranty claim or property sale.

Why buy this component at Atria.sk

We offer exclusively original Vaillant components with 100% compatibility with this brand's flue systems – no universal replacements of dubious quality that could jeopardize the gas-tightness of the entire assembly or void the boiler warranty. Goods are usually in stock or quickly available from the supplier, so the completion of a boiler room or a service intervention is not delayed by one missing component. If you are unsure which exact component you need for your assembly, we will be happy to advise you by phone or email – just provide the boiler model and the length of the flue route you need to span.

We normally process orders within one business day and ship in-stock items immediately. If you are not sure which exact component your project requires (for example when combining several lengths and bends into one route), we will be happy to help you choose the correct assembly before ordering – just send us a floor plan or a photo of the installation site along with the boiler model.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between this component and the Ø 110/160 mm extension?

This Ø 110 mm extension is single-wall and is used in the shaft (LAS) system, where air flows freely in the shaft space around the pipe. The Ø 110/160 mm pipe, on the other hand, is double-wall (concentric) and carries both air and flue gases in a single coaxial assembly without the need for an existing shaft.

Can this pipe also be used outside a shaft, for example on a facade?

No, the single-wall Ø 110 mm system is certified exclusively for use in an enclosed building shaft with a defined combustion air supply – outside a shaft (for example on an open facade), a concentric system of Ø 60/100, 80/125 or 110/160 mm must be used instead.

How is this pipe combined with the 0.5 m or 1.0 m length?

The individual lengths (0.5 m and 1.0 m) are freely combined with each other using the bayonet lock, just as with the concentric system, in order to achieve the exact required height of the vertical route in the shaft.

Does the shaft need to be modified before installation?

Yes, the shaft must be inspected before installation and modified if necessary so that it meets the requirements for cross-section, air-tightness against other building spaces, and outdoor air supply according to the project documentation and the boiler installation manual.

Who can assess the suitability of an existing shaft for this system?

The suitability of the shaft is assessed by an authorized designer or inspection technician/chimney sweep in cooperation with the installation company, before ordering the specific assembly components.

How many 1.0 m pieces do I need for a route spanning several floors?

The exact number depends on the clear height of the individual floors and the specific route in the shaft – we recommend verifying the number of components according to the project documentation, or contacting us with the building height details, and we will gladly help with the calculation.

Do I also need spacer holders for a longer vertical route in the shaft?

Yes, for a multi-metre vertical route in the shaft, continuous spacer fastening of the pipe is recommended to maintain the free cross-section of the shaft for combustion air flow around the entire circumference of the pipe.

Can several 1.0 m pieces be combined directly one after another without an intermediate piece?

Yes, individual 1.0 m components connect directly to each other using the bayonet lock without the need for any intermediate piece, just as with the Ø 110/160 mm concentric system.

Is the 1.0 m extension also suitable for a short addition to an existing route during a service intervention?

Yes, for a service extension or modification of an existing route in the shaft, this component is a common choice for adding the required length without having to replace the entire assembly.

How can I tell if my existing installation uses this exact single-wall Ø 110 mm system?

The most reliable way is to check the system's type designation in the boiler's project or installation documentation, or the marking directly on the existing route components; if in doubt, we will gladly help identify it from a photo.

Can this component also be used with boilers of other brands from the Vaillant Group (e.g. Protherm)?

Dimensionally identical components within the Vaillant Group (Vaillant, Protherm, Saunier Duval and others) often match, however official compatibility and certification are tied to a specific brand and boiler model – before using it with a different brand, we recommend checking with the manufacturer or with us.

Can this pipe be used as a replacement for a damaged section of an existing older installation?

Yes, as long as it is the same type of Vaillant Ø 110 mm shaft system, this component is also suitable as a replacement for a damaged section of an existing route during a service intervention.

How is this pipe designated in Vaillant installation documentation?

In the documentation, it is designated as part of the shaft (LAS) flue gas discharge accessories with the diameter Ø 110 mm and the component length specified – you can also find the exact catalogue designation directly on our website for this product.
